Quantic Dream and Epic Games have announced an exclusive partnership for the Epic Games Store to release the companies previously PlayStation-exclusive games on PC. Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and last year's Detroit: Become Humanwill all be available on PC later this year exclusively through the Epic Games Store.
The exclusivity agreement will last for one year for each game. Quantic and Epic made the announcement during the Epic keynote presentation at GDC 2019.
Chinese company NetEase has purchased a minority stake in developer Quantic Dreams (Detroit: Become Human). Quantic Dreams co-founder David Cage says that the studio plans to make games for multiple platforms from now on, and not just for Sony.
The Detroit: Become Human demo is now available on PlayStation 4. Detroit: Become Human is the newest game from David Cage and his team at Quantic Dream, best known story-focused games involving choice, such as Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. The demo focuses on a chapter we saw at PSX 2017 called “Hostage.” In this scene, you play as Connor, an android programmed to hunt down disobedient androids, which are on the rise. You must figure out how to defuse an intense hostage situation by searching for clues and making dialogue choices.Detroit: Become Human launches on May 25 for PS4.
Quantic Dream founder David Cage announced via the PlayStation's official blog the release date for the neo-noir cybernetic thriller Detroit: Become Human. The game will be released on May 25 for PS4. He’s the full statement:
We are proud to announce that Detroit: Become Human now has an official release date. On 25th May, you will finally have the chance to get your hands on Quantic Dream’s most ambitious title to date.
In a dystopian vision of our near future, Detroit is the story of three androids, three machines designed to obey, who start to feel emotions. Confronted with persecution and the violence of society, they will all have to decide who they want to be.
During Sony’s Paris Games Week Press Conference, Quantic Dreams showed off a new trailer for David Cage's upcoming choice-based narrative game, Detroit: Become Human. It highlighted another vignette of the android versus human conflict, albeit with a more intimate and darker tone. The trailer centers on Kara, an android who returns to work as a maid for a family. As the trailer progresses, it's quickly apparent the father is abusive towards his daughter, Alice, and had previously broken Kara during an abusive episode. As the trailer builds up to its climax, it cuts to a diagram of choices, showing the various ways the story could have played out. The game is set to release in Spring.
In an interview with GameSpot at E3, Game director David Cage confirmed the release window for PS4 exclusive Detroit: Become Humansaying "it's going to be next year." During Sony’s E3 press conference, a new trailer for Detroit: Become Human was shown. The trailer shows us a third perspective: Marcus, the leader of the android uprising. The trailer tells Marcus' story. Early on, he leads a heist against a store which keeps android for sale. Using their robotic bodies to heat pipes and break into the store, the android gang is eventually found out and chased by the police. Over time, Marcus becomes a central figure in the android rebellion, as those he frees begin following him as a leader. To see this and more, check out the trailer below. Unfortunately, Detroit: Become Human still doesn’t have a release date.
During Sony’s E3 2016 press conference, Sony showed a trailer for Detroit: Become Human. In Detroit: Become Human you’ll collect information, investigate murder scenes, and face life and death situations that will force you to make smart choices and affect the narrative in a variety of ways. During Sony's Paris Games Week 2015 Conference, Quantic Dream announced their debut PS4 game, titled Detroit: Become Human. The game is based on Quantic Dream's "Kara" tech demo from 2012.
