PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Gets A Free To Play Lite Version

PUBG Corporation and Bluehole are hoping a new lite version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will bring in new PC players. This version is entirely free, meanwhile the standard version is still $29.99 on Steam.
If you jump into the test, you'll only find one map, Erangel, with solo, duo, and squad avenues of play. PUBG Corporation's Lite Team seems pleased with the progress so far, saying "We have made the game to be playable even on low specification requirements like computers and laptops with integrated graphics."
While the Lite version has only been publicly announced for Thailand, it does appear to support other regions already. Official launches and support for non-Thailand regions will be coming at a later date.  The minimum and required specifications are listed below:

PUBG Mobile Adds First-Person Mode, Arcade Mode And A Battle Pass

PUBG Corp. has announced that some new features are coming to the mobile version of PUBG. First, the first-person mode is making its way to mobile. This allows players to get up close and personal with their gun. Much like the other versions, this is a separate mode that is balanced for the lack of peripheral vision in the more enclosed view. The other big change is a MiniZone Arcade Mode, which drops the hundred players into a much smaller circle with three times the number of weapons for a faster experience. PUBG is also introducing a battle pass on both PC and mobile. The PC battle pass is only for cosmetics, while the mobile battle pass gives subscribers loot crates and a weapon. PUBG Corp. Takes Epic To Court Over Similarities Between PUBG And Fortnite

The company be hide PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, PUBG Corp., is taking Epic Games to court over the similarities between Battlegrounds and Fortnite.
The copyright infringement suit filed now reveals that PUBG Corp. had in fact filed an injunction against Epic in January. The movement now is likely because Epic is expanding Fortnite's Battle Royale mode into East Asia, with publisher Neowiz, developers and publishers of MMORPG Bless Online, partnering to bring it to net cafe-style businesses in South Korea. The suit was filed in Seoul Central District Court against Epic Games Korea specifically. By filing suit, PUBG Corp. hopes to get a court to determine whether Fortnite's Battle Royale mode infringes on Battlegrounds, particularly over things like items and user interface. Thoughts ?

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Update Adds Balance Changes, Map Selection, And Much More

Bluehole and PUBG Corp. have released one of the biggest updates for PlayerUnkowns Battlegrounds on PC today. The latest feature addition is the ability to select which map you want to play, between Erangel and Miramar. Players can choose to play exclusively on one map or select multiple maps for the game to randomly choose from. The latter option does not have a lot of novel use right now, with only Erangel and Miramar as available choices, but there is room for the third map, Savage,  currently in testing to be added. A new weapon has been added to the roster, the SLR. The weapon functions similarly to the SKS, but is a bit more powerful with proportional recoil. A new muscle car, the Mirado, also joins in on the offroad searches for a chicken dinner exclusively in Miramar. You can find the full patch notes here.

In a blog post on Steam, PUBG Corp. has announced that the PC version of the title is getting map selection. You’ll be able to select multiple maps and the game will randomly select one for you. No specific timeframe has been announced for the feature, but it should be available "soon" – first on the test server and then for everyone shortly after. It’s nice to see that PUBG Corp. is listing to its player base. RIP Miramar, no one will ever play you again. Thoughts ?

Keyboard And Mouse Support For To Be Disabled For PUBG On Console

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Xbox players that use third party devices to play with a keyboard and mouse might not be able to do so soon.

When asked whether there were any plans to curb console players' use of keyboard and mouse in the game, PUBG's community coordinator Dan "RoboDanjal" tweeted that they have been "gathering in-game information regarding third party device usage over the past few months.
"Although usage of these devices is statistically very low, fair gameplay is core to our experience, and we will be communicating our plan to curb the use of these devices soon."
It's unclear when this change will be implemented. The same response was posted in the PUBG forums back in February, so it’s safe to say this is a work in progress for now.

PUBG Corp. Outlines 2018 Content Roadmap, Two New Maps Coming

PUBG Corp. and Bluehole have unveiled their roadmap for content in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in 2018. This  includes 2 new maps, emotes, outfits, and more. The developers are experimenting with a 4x4 kilometer map, a smaller size that they explain is designed to facilitate a faster and more intense battle royale experience. The map is themed after a tropical jungle and they hope to get it on the test server as soon as next month. A second map double the size of the jungle one is also in the works. There's no information about it at this time. New weapons, attachments, and vehicles are also planned this year, with vehicles getting the first priority in the first half of this year and weapon-related items being sprinkled throughout the second half of the year. New graphical overhauls will be hitting the game to give buildings a more unique look, as well as tweaks to audio to make it more responsive to your surroundings, especially for vehicles. Last but to least, the developers want to make changes to parachuting unarmed combat, but were sparse on details. While this roadmap is for the PC version of the game, most changes and additions should eventually come to the Xbox One version.

New PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Map Coming In The First Half Of 2018

In a Steam update from PUBG Corp., the developers explained why the development roadmap had slowed down so dramatically in the early part of the year.
"Early this year, development of some of the major features and systems was delayed as our focus shifted towards tightening our anti-cheat effort," reads the post. The major bit of news from the post, however, is a reference to a timeframe for the third map for the game.
"In March, the team will reveal what you can expect from us in the first half of 2018 in terms of our development and new content plans which, by the way, include a new map," the developers wrote. While frequent updates are commonplace for the game and fans are used to it, a roadmap is traditionally used for most service games to let fans know what's coming. This timeframe puts the third map anywhere between now and the end of June, but delays are always possible even for the best laid plans. It is worth noting that this is only in reference to the PC version of Battlegrounds and not the Xbox One version.

PUBG Corporation Wants To Bring Battlegrounds To Every Platform

The CEO of PUBG Corp. has said that the company hopes to bring Battlegrounds to every platform. CH Kim, PUBG Corporation's CEO, told InvenGlobal that the company is interested in bringing Battlegrounds to the PlayStation 4. The main problem, aside from the timed exclusivity "for some time" on the Xbox One, is that the PlayStation 4 has no early access/game preview program, which makes the company's release plans difficult. "Early Access on Steam and Game Preview on Xbox One are like pre-release, so they don’t have a restriction on quality," Kim said. "However, PS is very strict about this. There were cases where a game took 6 months more to launch even when it was already completed."
