Retail Copy Of Sonic Mania, Sonic Mania Plus Coming This Summer


SEGA is planning to release a retail version of Sonic Mania which is titled Sonic Mania Plus and will arrive this summer. The game includes Sonic Mania, Mighty and Ray as playable characters, a new Encore mode, 4 player Competition mode, Holographic packaging, 32-page art book, and more. The game retail version will be available for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. 


UPDATE 4/26/2018 - SEGA has confirmed that Sonic Mania Plus will be launching on July 17th. The company also released a new trailer showing off some of the new additions to the package. Those of you who already own Sonic Mania will be able to purchase the DLC separately.

SEGA Announcing What’s Next For Sonic At SXSW 2018


SEGA will once again be participating at SXSW and this time they will be talking about what’s next for the blue hedgehog. The panel will also discuss last year’s Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces which both performed well at retail. The panel will take place on March 16th at 3.30pm. Here’s the details:

“Sonic is back, and ready to take 2018 by storm. Join the official team from SEGA who are building Sonic’s future as they give you an update on last year’s strong performance of Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces, as well as the world-exclusive first look at what comes next for the fastest blue hedgehog. Speakers include Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka, Sonic PD Director Austin Keys, Sonic Mania Animation Director Tyson Hesse, and Sonic Social Media Manager Aaron Webber. You won’t want to miss this!”

Sonic Mania Highest Rated Sonic Game In 15 Years, No Plans For DLC


Sega has confirmed that Sonic Mania, which launched earlier this week, is officially the highest-rated new Sonic title in 15 years. “Thank you all so much for being part of this journey with us,” the publisher said in a recent statement. Also, Takashi Iizuka, currently the head of Sonic Team, was recently interviewed by Gamer.jp and when asked about DLC for Sonic Mania, Iizuka said that there are currently no plans to bring it to the game. Sonic Mania is now available for download on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Sonic Mania Intro Released, PC Version Delayed To End Of August


Sonic Mania is out in just a few days, which means leaks are bond to happen. As a response to the games entire animated being leaked, Sega has released the intro on their own. Sega also held a livestream today, where they announced that Sonic Mania would be delayed on PC until August 29th, but that pre-purchases would get Sonic the Hedgehog 1 as compensation.

SEGA Confirms Sonic Mania Releases On August 15th


SEGA has confirmed that Sonic Mania will be released on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on August 15th. To celebrate the news they have released a pre-order trailer featuring hand drawn images of Sonic and company and naturally plenty of gameplay footage. The game will cost $20/£15.

European Steam Says Sonic Mania Is Launching August 15th


According to the he European Steam trailer for Sonic Mania, the game will release on August 15th. The US trailer on Steam just says that the game is arriving this summer. We can only assume that SEGA will announce the release date soon, E3 maybe ?

Sonic Mania Gets New Release Window + Project Sonic 2017 Is Now Sonic Forces


During the South By Southwest "Gotta Go Fast" panel, Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka announced that Sonic Mania is now set to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC this summer. The game was originally scheduled to release spring 2017. Also during the panel Sonic Team finally revealed the name for its upcoming mainline entry in the Sonic franchise. Known as Project Sonic 2017 it’s now officially known as Sonic Forces. No additional details were revealed, but you can watch some gameplay below. Sonic Forces is set to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC during holiday 2017.

New Sonic 2017 And Sonic Mania Info Coming In March

SXSW has released this years schedule for the event and with it we see the official Sonic SXSW panel will be taking place on March 16th. This should give us some details for both upcoming games. Sonic Mania has been confirmed for the Nintendo Switch but it will certainly be interesting to find out when we are getting the ambitious Project Sonic.

Sonic Mania Gets A Cool Collectors Edition (UPDATED)


Sega has announced a collectors edition for Sonic Mania. You can preorder your copy of the collector's edition here. The bundle will cost $69.99 and includes a download key for the game via a metal card, a 12" statue of Sonic standing on a Genesis (complete with "Sega" startup sound), a replica Genesis cart (with golden ring), and a collector's box. It should also noted that the collectors edition is only coming North America at this time. 

UPDATE 10/18/16 - It looks like the collectors edition will be available outside of North America after all. In a press release, Sega Europe announced that the collectors edition will be coming to Amazon in the UK, Germany, France and Spain. “We’ve been thrilled with the European fan excitement surrounding Sonic Mania,” said Sonic's chief brand officer, Ivo Gerscovich. “While we weren’t able to announce the Sonic Mania Collector’s Edition simultaneously with North America, we are now pleased to announce it’s available for pre-order for Europe. Our fans across the world are important to us.”
