Shawn Layden Leaves Sony Interactive Entertainment


Sony has announced that Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden is leaving the company. "It is with great emotion that we announce that Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden will be departing SIE," the tweet reads. “His visionary leadership will be greatly missed. We wish him success in future endeavors and are deeply grateful for his years of service. Thanks for everything, Shawn!" No other details were given regarding the departure, or even a successor for Layden.

Jim Ryan Is The New President Of Sony Interactive Entertainment


Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that Jim Ryan will be taking over for John Kodera as president and CEO of SIE. Kodera, who was appointed to the position after Andrew House left in October 2017. Ryan has been at Sony since 1994 and long been a fixture and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

There Has Been 3 Million PSVR Units Sold


Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced on the PlayStation Blog that it has sold 3 million PSVR systems.
The company also announced 2 new games. The first is a boxing game called Creed: Rise to Glory, and the other is a shooter called Evasion. Check out the PS Blog article for more.

Sony Estimates PS4 Sales Of Over 70 Million Units, Over 2 Million For PSVR


Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that it estimates the sales of the PS4 are over 70.6 million units worldwide. The company says the sales data is current through the beginning of this month, but it did not split out different versions of the system such as the PS4 Pro. Sony also estimates that it has sold over 2 million PSVR units around the globe.

Andrew House Stepping Down As Sony Interactive Entertainment President


President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Andrew House, has stepped down from his post. He was with the company for 27 years. House started at Sony in 1990, helping to usher in the popularity of the PlayStation brand. House became co-CEO of SIE, and eventually sole CEO when Kazuo Hirai got promoted to the head of the company in 2011, overseeing the PlayStation 4's meteoric rise over the last few years. House is remaining a chairman until the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition, but his deputy president John Kodera will be succeeding him at SIE.

PS Vita Update 3.57 Causing Issues With The Handheld

Earlier in the week Sony released a new firmware update for PlayStation Vita, and now several users are reporting issues. PS Vita owners have taken to NeoGAF and Reddit to report various issues caused by update 3.57, including PlayStation Store connection issues, instances of rapid battery drain and more. Sony Shipped 8.4 Million PS4s During The Holiday’s


Sony has announced its financial performance for the quarter ending December 31, 2015. Revenues for the gaming segment of the company  increased by 10.5%, attributable to 8.4 million PlayStation 4 consoles shipped to retail in the quarter and an increase in PS4 software. Sony announced at the beginning of the month that life to date sales have reached 35.9 million. Sony does not mention PlayStation 3 and PS Vita shipments in its documentation.

Say Hello To Sony Interactive Entertainment


Sony corporation has announced it’s merging Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Network Entertainment under a new name. The new company is called Sony Interactive Entertainment and is based in San Mateo, California. Sony wants SIE to be the center for everything PlayStation, including PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR as well as services such as PlayStation Vue. “By integrating the strengths of PlayStation’s hardware, software, content and network operations, SIE will become an even stronger entity,” said global CEO of Sony Andrew House. As a result, the two companies will combine hardware, software, and content creating resources into a single pool. Sony says move represents a “renewed commitment” to PlayStation products. Sounds like they’re moving forward with PlayStation in a big way and making sure they stay on top. What do you think of PlayStation doing this ?
