Amy Hennig No Longer At EA, Starting Independent Studio

We learned last year that the single-player Star Wars game from Visceral would never come to be. Now we’ve learned new details from Eurogamer reveal that Amy Hennig, best known for her work on the Uncharted series, is definitively off the project. Hennig says that while there are no hard feelings with EA, she hasn't worked with them since January. Instead, she's started her own independent studio, and is playing around with several ideas, including VR.

Star Wars Battlefront II Gets Limited-Time Mode, Hoth Outfits And More

The latest update for Star Wars Battlefront II adds balance fixes, bug tweaks and  some limited-time fun in the form of the Jetpack Cargo game mode and Hoth hero appearances. Jetpack Cargo gives everyone a jet pack and a rocket launcher, and the Hoth outfits for Luke, Leia, and Han are unlockable through in-game challenges. Those features may only be available for a  limited, but here to stay are new locations to custom arcade mode: Kashyyyk, Hoth, Endor, Crait, Jakku, and Death Star II. A number of heroes are being tweaked, from checking the Emperor's ability to Force Lightning through walls to reducing Kylo Ren's cooldown timers for Pull and Freeze. The update also reduces the effectiveness of dodging, balances and fixes specific locations, and increases the payout for dupes.

EA Temporarily Removes Virtual Currency In Star Wars: Battlefront II

EA has removed buyable crystals from Star Wars: Battlefront II after a sustained and heated backlash against the virtual currency took over social media.
The game no longer supports buyable crystals, the game's virtual currency which unlocks heroes and lootboxes in the game. What this means is that the game is no longer pay-to-win as players can not just purchase crystals to get stronger heroes and crate rewards faster. This also means they are only able to be earned through in-game grinding.

In the blog post announcing the change, DICE general manager Oskar Gabrielson said that they would turn buyable crystals on once they have figured out a solution to make players happy. You can find the official announcement below.

EA has announced that Respawn Entertainment (Titanfall) is working on a new 3rd person Star Wars game. In a post on EA's official site, executive vice president of EA Studios, Patrick Soderlund, confirmed that the game will be "an all-new 3rd person action adventure game set in the Star Wars universe" and that Respawn's project joins Star Wars titles in development at EA studios including Visceral Games, DICE, Capital Games, BioWare, and Motive. The project will be led by Stig Asmussen, who was the  creative director for God of War III. What do you think of Respawn making a  3rd person Star Wars game ? The fact that Stig Asmussen is the projects lead has me very excited and I can’t wait to see what he and his team create in the Star Wars universe.

Here’s Why There Will Be No Force Awakens DLC In Star Wars Battlefront

According to The Wall Street Journal, in a recent earnings call EA's CFO Blake Jorgensen reiterated why there is likely no Force Awakens DLC coming to Star Wars Battlefront explained why: “You can’t make a game in ’Star Wars’ that violates the canon of ‘Star Wars'...meaning, you can’t take something from the future and bring it back into the past unless it’s a reference.” Jorgensen also said that future Star Wars titles could have content from the new trilogy. Its sad to hear but it makes sense why there will be no Force Awakens DLC. What do you think ?
