iOS 10.3 Can Give You Some Storage Space Back

If you haven’t upgraded to iOS 10.3 yet, you may want to consider doing so. One of the main features of iOS 10.3 is the new Apple File System. One benefit from the new file system and the way it stores files is that you will probably see an increase in storage. No only did I gain quite a bit of storage, but the iPhone just seems snappier. Though, the update caused a reboot which always helps the iPhone run smoother, but the new file structure and the way files are read and written should make file access faster. I have not scientifically tested, but the iPhone definitely feels much snappier and smoother.

iOS 10.3 Rumored To Feature A Theatre Mode

A beta for iOS 10.3 is apparently coming as soon as January 10, 2017. Not much is known about what new features will come with iOS 10.3. It's possible that the new version could be equipped with improved Apple Pencil support for new iPads expected in March or April, although early beta versions probably won't provide clues of that support until test hardware is available. A ”Theatre Mode" is rumored to be a new Control Center button allowing one-tap dimming of an iPhone screen as well as placing a device into "Do Not Disturb" and silent modes. As the name suggests, this would make iPhones running in the new mode a lot less annoying during movies and concerts.  It sounds nice but I feel like I’ll to try it to understand why this is even a thing. Thoughts ?

Apple Releases iOS 10.2 And tvOS 10.1

Apple has released iOS 10.2. It’s available as a free over-the-air update or as an iTunes download for all iOS 10 users. iOS 10.2 adds the TV app, which is designed to offer a unified experience for discovering and accessing TV shows and movies from multiple apps on the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.  It provides one place to access TV shows and movies, as well as a place to discover new content to watch. Key features within the TV app include:

For example, when viewers finish an episode, the next one will automatically appear at the start of the Up Next queue, as will any new episodes as they become available. At any time, users can simply ask Siri to continue watching a show and immediately pick up where they left off.
  • Recommended: Viewers can explore a selection of curated and trending shows and movies, including collections handpicked by Apple’s curators, and dedicated categories and genres such as kids, sci-fi and comedy.
  • Library: Viewers can access their entire collection of iTunes movies and TV shows that they have rented or purchased on iTunes.
  • Store: If users are looking for something new, they can check out the Store to discover great new content across video services that they have not yet downloaded or are not yet subscribed to, along with the latest releases on iTunes.

Along with the TV app, Apple recently rolled out its Single Sign-On feature, allowing cable subscribers to sign in once with their cable credentials to access all live cable content available within various apps. Apple Releases Betas For macOS Sierra 10.12.1, iOS 10.1, watchOS 3.1 And tvOS 10.0.1

It's expected that all of these betas are primarily bug-fix versions of the first releases, although early testers are already reporting that iOS 10.1 features a beta version of the highly-anticipated Portrait mode in Photos for owners of the iPhone 7 Plus. Portrait mode uses photos captured by both iPhone 7 Plus cameras to create a "depth map" of an image, then applies a Gaussian blur to any items out of the plane of focus to create a "faux bokeh" effect. This is perfect for shooting portraits where you want a person or thing to be the focal point of your image, hence the name "portrait mode".
