Apple Wants Your iOS Screenshots To Look Perfect

It seems like a weird thing, but people who review iOS apps on the web are often ashamed of their status bars. When they post screenshots of an app, they feel embarrassed by the fact that they don’t have a full signal from their cellular carrier, or a clear connection to WiFi, or 100% battery life even. It’s an expression of the pursuit of perfection that marks Apple and its fans as a whole. You wouldn’t think this is an issues that Apple would really care about. But apparently, it is and in OS X Yosemite and iOS 8, they’ve figured out a way to fix it. When using QuickTime in Yosemite’s new ability to record video of what’s on an iOS 8 device’s screen while mirroring your device screen, the new QuickTime gives you 100% cellular, Wi-Fi, and battery, and change the time your status bar. Even if you only have 5% battery left.

Siri Could Be On Its Way To The Mac

A new patent application published suggests that Apple’s looking to go much further when it comes to having users talk to their Macs. The Intelligent Digital Assistant In A Virtual Environment application was filed February 4 this year, and describes a Mac-based Siri every bit as smart as its mobile iOS counterpart. The patent application depicts a future OS X dock featuring an icon for Siri, which could be available to use for dictation or commands from inside various different programs. Keep in mind that this is a rumor and nothing is confirmed.  For those who don't know Siri was originally introduced as an iOS application available in the App Store by Siri, Inc., which later was acquired by Apple on April 28, 2010. After that Siri has been an integral part of iOS since iOS 5 and was introduced as a feature of the iPhone 4S on October 14, 2011. Siri has been a Standard on all iOS devices since the iPhone 4S.

App Store Saw Record Revenue In July

July was a record-setting month for App Store in revenue. According to Apple, seeing both record revenue numbers and a record number of customers making transactions. During the company's recent financial results call covering the third fiscal quarter of 2014, Apple CEO Tim Cook noted that iTunes software and services were the fastest growing part of Apple's business during the quarter that ended in June. iTunes grew 25 percent year over year to an all time quarterly high, and Apple saw iTunes revenue of $4.5 billion, largely due to the continued success of the App Store.
