Splatoon 3 Themed Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) Coming In August

 On August 26, a special edition Splatoon 3 themed Nintendo Switch – OLED Model system will be available in stores featuring design inspiration from the new Splatoon 3 game (sold separately). Adorned with splashy, squid-tastic images straight out of Splatsville, the Nintendo Switch – OLED Model Splatoon 3 Special Edition includes a set of one blue and one yellow gradient Joy-Con controllers with white underbellies and a white, graffiti-themed Nintendo Switch dock.

The Splatoon 3 game launches for Nintendo Switch on Sept. 9 at a suggested retail price of $59.99. Also available on Sept. 9 is the Splatoon 3 Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, featuring striking colors and images fit for Inklings and Octolings alike, at a suggested retail price of $74.99, and the Nintendo Switch Splatoon 3 Edition Carrying Case at a suggested retail price of $24.99. In the Splatoon 3 game, you’ll engage in chaotic 4-v-4 Turf War clashes across a mix of new and returning stages, where teams face off to cover the most ground in their ink to win, and discover features, weapons and the trendiest gear this side of the sun. Splatoon 3 also features a single-player campaign and the next iteration of the co-op Salmon Run mode. The Nintendo Switch Has Shifted 107.65 Million Units Since 2017

Nintendo has reported that 107.65 million Nintendo Switch systems have been distributed since the system's introduction in 2017. This statistic covers sales of the Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch (OLED Model). The  company also claimed that it expects to ship 21 million devices in the current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2023. If Nintendo accomplishes this, total Nintendo Switch sales will be 128.65 million. Nintendo delivered 4.11 million copies globally in the most recent quarter, which ran from January 1st, 2022 to March 31st, 2022. In comparison, Sony sold 2 million PlayStation 5 systems within the same time period, although the new Sony platform is severely limited in supply.

Nintendo Has Sold 103.54 Million Nintendo Switch Units

Nintendo has released its financial statistics for the first nine months of fiscal year 2021, which concluded on December 31st. Since the console's introduction in March 2017, the company has sold 103.54 million Nintendo Switch consoles, according to its financial figures. This means that worldwide sales of the Nintendo Switch have overtaken those of the wildly successful Wii console, making the Switch the best-selling Nintendo home console ever. The Wii was released in 2006 and has sold 101.63 million units worldwide. Nintendo, on the other hand, only sold 18.95 million Switch units in the nine months, down 21.4% from the previous year. With 154.02 million units sold, the Nintendo DS remains the most popular Nintendo hardware ever.

The Nintendo Switch Was The Bet Selling Console In November 2021

According to the NPD Group, which tracks video game sales in the U.S., the combined sales of Nintendo Switch, Nintendo
Switch Lite and Nintendo Switch – OLED Model systems hit 1.13 million in the month of November, powering up Nintendo Switch as the best-selling video game console of that month. For the important holiday-shopping week of Thanksgiving, which includes Black Friday, Nintendo Switch was also the top-selling video game console, with nearly 550,000 systems sold. With November logged in the record books, Nintendo Switch has now been the top-selling video game console for 35 out of the last 36 months.

Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch – OLED Model can both be played on the TV or instantly taken on the go, while Nintendo Switch Lite is a dedicated handheld system, perfect for players who love playing portably. All of these options in the Nintendo Switch family give shoppers the choice of a system that best fits their gaming lifestyle.

Nintendo Switch Family Of Systems Have Now Sold 92.87 Million Units

Nintendo has provided updated global sales figures for the Switch family of systems. The Switch family of systems have sold 92.87 million units worldwide as of September 30th. For comparison the Nintendo 3DS lifetime sales are 75.94 million and the Wii U was 13.56. The system still has a way to go before it overtakes the 2006 gaming phenomenon which was the Wii, whose lifetime sales sit at 101.63 million.

Nintendo shifted 3.83 million Switch units during the July-September 2021 period, which Bloomberg says was down from the 4.45 million units sold a quarter earlier. Nintendo’s operating profit for the period was 100.2 billion yen which is far lower than analysts had expected. Nintendo’s expected operating profit for the period was 121.9 billion yen.

Nintendo Switch (OLED model) has a similar overall size to the Nintendo Switch system, but with a larger, vibrant 7-inch OLED screen with vivid colors and crisp contrast. Nintendo Switch (OLED model) also features a wide adjustable stand for tabletop mode, a new dock with a wired LAN port, 64GB of internal storage, and enhanced audio for handheld and tabletop play. Just like Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch (OLED model) allows players to play on the TV and share the detachable Joy-Con controllers for right-out-of-the-box multiplayer fun. And just like both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite, with Nintendo Switch (OLED model), the system can be taken on the go to enjoy its play-anywhere versatility. Nintendo Switch (OLED model) launches on Oct. 8, the same day as the Metroid Dread game, the next entry in the 2D Metroidsaga that kicked off with the original Metroid on NES. With the vibrant OLED screen and enhanced audio, embarking on the latest adventure of intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran in Metroid Dread while playing in handheld or tabletop mode will feel even more immersive.

Nintendo Switch (OLED model) will let players experience enhancements in all three play modes:

TV mode: Set the Nintendo Switch (OLED model) system into the dock to play Nintendo Switch games on the TV. By using the built-in wired LAN port, players can enjoy another way to connect online in TV mode.

Tabletop mode: Flip the stand on the back of the system and use the system’s screen to play multiplayer games using two Joy-Con controllers right out of the box. A wide adjustable stand makes for a solid and sturdy foundation. It allows players to freely tilt the system and adjust the viewing angle, so it makes it easier to see the screen.

Handheld mode: Players can bring the system wherever they go in handheld mode and play local* or online** multiplayer with friends. The system’s 7-inch OLED screen provides vivid color and crisp contrast.

When the system launches, it will come in two color options:
