Super Mario Party Gets Online Modes

 A free update for Super Mario Party for Nintendo Switch has gone live today and it brings a feature that many fans have wanted since release: online play. The game is now updated to version 1.1.0 and the following online play modes have been added from today:

• Mario Party
• Partner Party
• Free Play (Minigames)

There are of course restrictions in place, but take a look at the below info directly from Nintendo which outlines what you can and cannot do online with Super Mario Party.

Playing over the internet:

• To play over the internet, select either Mario Party, Partner Party, or Minigames, then select Online Play.
• There are two ways to play over the internet: Friend Match, where you can play with Friends, and Private Game, where you can play with anyone using passwords.
• The combinations through which you can play over the internet are as follows:
• Up to 1 player per system (you can play with between 2 and 4 players)
• Up to 2 players per system (you can play with between 3 and 4 players)If two players are each playing on their own systems, they cannot play with two players using a third system.
• Playing over the internet supports the Invite Friend feature. If you select Invite Friend on the screen at which you’re waiting for rivals, your selected Friends can join from the Online Play Invites on their user-page icon in the top left of the HOME Menu.
• Online Mariothon does not support the Invite Friend feature.
• When playing over the internet, all 20 characters and all maps are available, regardless of your current in-game progress.
• When playing over the internet, 70 of the total 80 minigames are available to play.
• The following 10 minigames are not available when playing over the internet.
• Strike It Rich
• Time to Shine
• Take a Stab
• All-Star Swingers
• Rhythm and Bruise
• Pep Rally
• Wiped Out
• Fiddler on the Hoof
• Clearing the Table
• Baton and On
• Play data won’t be saved when playing over the internet.

You Can Only Play Super Mario Party With Joy-Cons

The upcoming party game, Super Mario Party, requires the use of Joy-Con due to the nature of the featured minigames, which were built with motion controls and simple inputs in mind in order to provide a multiplayer experience designed for anyone to pick up and play. This means that the game won’t support the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. Super Mario Party is launches on October 5 on Nintendo Switch.

Super Mario Party Will Include Online Play In Mario Fun Mode For Minigames Only

Super Mario Party will be the first of its kind to include a mode that allows players to play online with friends and strangers. Announced during the Nintendo Treehouse stream earlier today, Mario Fun mode can be played locally or online, allowing you to play 80 minigames in freeplay. Unfortunately, that means the mode won’t include online for board games.

In Mario Fun mode, players will be able to face off against others in five consecutive minigames. Leaderboards and a ranking system will feature, alongside rewards for joining in on the fun. Thankfully, Mario Fun mode is a big step for Nintendo when it comes to adding online play to the Mario Party franchise. Super Mario Party will be released for the Switch on October 5.

Super Mario Party Has 80 New Minigames And More

As the latest game in the Mario Party series to hit the Nintendo Switch, Super Mario Party will feature over 80 new minigames. During the Nintendo Treehouse stream at E3, fans were shown a range of minigames and a new mode called Toad’s Rec Room.

Mario Party fans will be pleased to know that size-able 3D board games are back in play and you’ll be able to adjust the length of time you and your friends want to play a board before beginning. There are also some new items on show too, such as the Golden Drink and the Coinado, which add an extra move space to your dice roll, or steal coins from other players, respectively. The select-a-minigame Freeplay mode is also back to let the good times roll, with the Nintendo Treehouse team showing Slaparazzi, Smash and Crab, Sizzling Stakes and an intense race to the finish line in Trike Harder.

In an interesting twist, Super Mario Party also brings a new mode to the surface in Toad’s Rec Room. This special mode allows players to collaboratively hook up their switch consoles to challenge each other to connect the images together on the screen. A neat way to pass the time on the train or a plane, no doubt. Super Mario Party will be available on the Nintendo Switch on October 5.

During Nintendo’s E3 Direct, Nintendo has announced a new entry in the Mario Party series for the Nintendo Switch. The new title in the series is called Super Mario Party and as you would expect it takes full advantage of the Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons. It’s releasing on October 5th.
