Grand Theft Auto V Has Sold 95 Million Copies

According to Take Two's latest financial report, in the past quarter Grand Theft Auto V has sold 5 million copies. That puts the Rockstar game up to 95 million copies sold. The new number makes it a virtual guarantee that the game will sell 100 million copies before the end of 2018. Take Two is also leveraging the success of GTA Online with the recently released Grand Theft Auto V: Premium Edition, which is the game plus some extra in-game cash.

Take-Two President Says Lootboxes Aren’t Gambling

Take-Two president Karl Slatoff has given her two cents on the lootbox controversy happening around the industry. "The whole gambling regulator thing, we don't view that thing as gambling," Slatoff said. "Our view is the same as the ESA statement, for the most part. So that's going to play its course." Lootboxes have become unpopular among the gaming community and, more alarmingly for companies like Take-Two, are being pointed to as harbingers of an easy avenue for gambling by local and federal governments both internationally and abroad. "You can't force the consumer to do anything." Thoughts ?

Is Mafia 3 Coming Soon ?

This morning, 4 domains related to Mafia 3, the long awaited next entry in the series, appeared online. The 4 websites in question are Mafia3TheGame.com, MafiaIIITheGame.com, MafiaThree.com and MafiaThreeTheGame.com. They were found by NeoGAF user “ekim”. Mafia II was released 2010 and I personally feel that a third game in the series is long over due. What you do think about Mafia 3 ? Would you play it ?

During there earnings call today, Take-Two has shared some additional detail about the performance of  there titles. The company has divulged shipment numbers for the Borderlands series, Evolve and Grand Theft Auto V. Borderlands is responsible for 25 million units shipped. Evolve, which launched in February of this year, has 2.5 million copies shipped. As for Grand Theft Auto V, the title has shipped 45 million copies across all platforms. As for the recent PC release, 7 million more copies where added to there crazy sales number. Today the company revealed that the hit Rockstar game has reached 52 million copies shipped across PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. I must point out that there is a BIG difference between shipped and sold. Shipped it just shipped to retails and sold is a sale to a consumer.
