The Wolf Among Us 2 Is Coming In 2023

The Wolf Among Us 2's first trailer debuted at a special
livestream hosted by Geoff Keighly, coupled with a 2023 release date. Telltale's designers and voice actors got down with Keighly to discuss what's in store for the long-awaited second season.

The Wolf Among Us 2 is set six months after the first season, but before the events of the Fables comic series on which it is based. Snow White (Erin Yvette), the new deputy mayor supervising a reformed government, has suspended Bigby Wolf (Adam Herrington) from his position as sheriff of Fabletown. Much of the story hinges around Bigby needing to understand his own ideas of good and evil when he meets a New York City detective and accompanies them on a challenging new case, according to Telltale. Returning characters and newcomers, including figures from The Wizard of Oz, such as the Scarecrow and Tin Man, might be expected.

Instead of using Telltale's previous gameplay engine, the game has been recreated in Unreal. Telltale wouldn't disclose much about the gameplay, other than that it will be based on the first season's basis with some new elements. The teaser largely features sequences from Episode 1, with a total of five episodes of The Wolf Among Us. Telltale also stated that the sequel is already in full production after spending the previous two years in pre-production. The Wolf Among Us 2 will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.

The Wolf Among Us Season 2 Delayed To 2019

Season 2 of The Wolf Among Us, Telltale's  graphic adventure based on Fables comic series, will launch in 2019.
Telltale had previously announced the new season of the episodic story release in the first half of 2018, but now has to put the game off till next year. The reason, according to Telltale, is because of internal changes within the company.
"This delay comes as the result of a few fundamental changes here at Telltale since we first announced the game last summer," Telltale wrote in a blog post. "Most importantly, we're committed to exploring new ways to tell our stories. Taking this extra time will allow us not only to focus on quality but also to experiment and iterate in order to craft something truly special."
The changes are likely due to restructuring and layoffs last year that resulted in 25% of the company losing their jobs. Since then, Telltale has been hiring for Unity engineers and developers, suggesting the studio is making a change from the engine it has been using for most of its games in the past. Which I hope is true because Telltale’s engine isn’t the best and I hope the switch to Unity leads to less crashes (which was the issue I dealt with the most).

Telltale Won’t Be Returning To Wolf Among Us And Tales From The Borderlands Any Time Soon

According to EuroGamer, Telltale won’t be returning to The Wolf Among Us and Tales from the Borderlands any time soon, as the studio says it has no immediate plans to release future seasons for either series. With SDCC (San Diego Comic-Con) coming up (July 20th to be exact), Telltale's Job Stauffer took to Twitter to explain the fates of both series. When discussing Bigby Wolf's voice actor, Adam Harrington, Stauffer wrote on Twitter, "I worry about people getting their hopes up in the wrong direction."
EuroGamer reached out to Telltale, receiving a more detailed response about both games and whether each series' finale cliffhangers would ever see a clearer resolution. When asked about The Wolf Among Us, Stauffer told EuroGamer that, "Something I've always wanted to admit is that while we do have a clear answer to who was who at the end of that story... we had also agreed to keep it a mystery for the fans to ponder on their own." He went on to explain that if the team did decide to revisit the series, it would likely be an entirely new chapter unrelated to season one's events. As for Tales from the Borderlands, Stauffer provided the following quote:
“While there are currently no plans for us to continue the story on the Telltale side, we do know that our friends at Gearbox and 2K are hard at work on what's next for the Borderlands universe. We know that also means if anything happens Rhys, Fiona and the gang... the ball is in their court to see whether they will or will not be explored again in any possible future entry into that universe. We're big fans of Borderlands as well, obviously, so here's hoping Tales isn't the last we'll ever see of those characters!”

Telltale has teased that its planning to announce some big news during SDCC later this week. Whatever they announce, you can found out here.
