Apple Rumored To Still Be Working On A New M3-Equipped 24-Inch iMac

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman writes in the newest issue of his Power On newsletter that Apple is still working on an iMac with a bigger display and a more powerful CPU. He also believes that an improved 24-inch variant with an M3 CPU will be available next year.

“I also still believe that Apple is working on a larger-screened iMac aimed at the professional market,” Gurman says. “I’d imagine this will use a variation of the M3 chip, likely an M3 Pro and M3 Max. That would match the chips inside of the MacBook Pro. I don’t think the combination of a Mac Studio or Mac mini plus an Apple Studio Display cuts it for many pro users who want more screen real estate.”

The iMac Pro Is Officially Discounted By Apple

 The iMac Pro has been removed from Apple’s web pages and is no longer available to order from the online Apple Store. The iMac Pro was released on December 14, 2017. In Apple’s
desktop line-up, it was placed above the consumer range Mac mini and iMac and below the Mac Pro.

Apple Expands The Build-To-Order Options For The iMac Pro

Apple has updated the iMac Pro build-to-order options. You can add a Radeon Pro Vega 64X graphics and a 256GB RAM option. The 256GB RAM memory option costs $5200. And that’s on top of the $5000 starting price of the pro all-in-one. However, the Radeon Pro Vega 64X graphics card is less pricey. It’s “only” a $700 upgrade, and comes with 16GB dedicated video memory.

If you’ve been wanting the space gray accessories that come with the iMac Pro, but don’t have the funds for the high-end iMac, you’re in luck: Apple is selling them separately. The space gray Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad is available for $149, the space gray Apple Magic Mouse is $99, and the Magic Trackpad.

The iMac Pro also supports up to 4TB of SSD and up to 128GB of ECC memory, and with four Thunderbolt 3 ports can connect to up to two high-performance RAID arrays and two 5K displays at the same time. If you order one, make sure it's got all the memory you can afford. Apparently, it's not user upgradeable, which seems strange for pro desktop. Even the RAM door that is on the back of the 5K iMac is gone.
