Apple Knew About iPhone 6/6 Plus “Bendgate” Issue Before Launch

According to a judge, Apple knew its iPhone 6 and 6 Plus phones were more likely to bend than previous models even with regular use. The information came out in an unsealed judicial opinion related to a class action lawsuit around “Bendgate.” 

Federal judge Lucy Koh in San Jose declined to allow a class action suit, but wrote that Apple had conducted an internal investigation of the bending issues and found that the iPhone 7 was 3.3x more likely to bend than the iPhone 5s. The 7 Plus was 7.2x more likely to bend than the iPhone 5s. The tech giant publicly maintained there weren’t design problems with the phones but engineers started addressing the issue with more epoxy and stronger aluminum shells. 

Does The iPhone 6s Mean The End Of “Bendgate” ?

The next iPhones, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are expected to be unveiled soon and 2 new videos have hit the Web that highlight some small changes made to the new phones. But in a look at the rear shell from the new phone, he shows that the area on the top handset near the volume button has been made significantly thicker from 1.14mm on the iPhone 6 to 1.9mm on the “iPhone 6s.” What do you think?

Leaked Photos Of The Rumored iPhone 6s Plus Show The Phones Stronger Body

Some new images of the rumored "iPhone 6s Plus" have surfaced by Future Supplier. The new iPhone's visual are  similar to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus line-up while mentioning a "stronger" construction to the device's rear casing. According to a source that spoke with Future Supplier, the backing of last year's iPhone 6 Plus was "smoother" than the new iPhone, but simultaneously the 6s Plus will be getting a "stronger" rear housing, perhaps in response to the "Bendgate" fiasco. iPhone 6S To Have Hardened Aluminum, No More Bendgate ?

It’s been rumored that the iPhone 6S might use the same aluminum used in the Apple Watch Sport. If this is true , it could solve the Bendgate issue. Report claims Apple will use the same higher level of 7000 series aluminum found in the Apple Watch Sport. If Apple manages to work the harder metal into the mass production process it could result in 60% harder iPhone cases. The 7000 series aluminum is the same that’s used in competition bicycles. Bendgate Resurfaces With The Samsung Galaxy S6

SquareTrade has recently released a video showing the durability of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and HTC One M9, discovering the Galaxy to bend at 110 lbs of pressure and the One M9 to bend at 120 lbs of pressure. Although the Galaxy S6 Edge's pressure limits are comparable to the iPhone 6 Plus' testing, the Galaxy's screen ended up cracking under the pressure instead of slightly bending similar to the iPhone 6 plus. The HTC One M9 lasted further than its 2 competitors, reaching 120 lbs of pressure. Testing to the point of unusable, the iPhone 6 Plus survived 179 lbs of pressure, beating out the Galaxy S6 Edge's 149 lbs stress test. As SquareTrade points out, the Galaxy's stress tests proves the phone could be worse for users due to the smartphone's screen cracking under intense pressure. So it looks like “Bendgate” has spared to the Galaxy S6 Edge as well. As we know in September 2014 iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users experience “Bendgate”  where users would have there phones in there pants pocket and the phone would easily bend. T-Mobile CEO Calls iPhone 6 "Bendgate" Horsesh!t

In an Interview, the CEO of T-Mobile spoke on a variety of mobile carrier subjects. Things got interesting when Legere spoke about the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Bendgate bashing, calling the whole thing horsesh!t.

Apple Isn't Ignoring The iPhone 6 "Bendgate" Problem

Apple has remained quiet about this issue since users began reporting that their new iPhones were warping in their pockets earlier this week. A customer support representative has now confirmed that Apple will replace handsets that pass a visual inspection. Its 100% up to the Genius that you speak with at the store. There is a test called a Visual Mechanical Inspection that the device will have to pass. If it is within the guidelines, they will be able to cover it. If not, the replacement would be paid. It’s not completely clear what the guidelines are, and the Apple representative said that this information wasn’t provided to support staff. We can only assume that Apple will replace devices that look like they may have been bent accidentally and not those that appear to have been bent on purpose.
