New Free Content Coming To Sonic Frontiers (2023 Road Map)

The Sonic Frontiers 2023 roadmap has been released by SEGA, and it includes new outfits, playable characters, and story content. So far, three significant upgrades are scheduled to be issued in the spring, summer, and fall. Photo mode and costumes are also on the way, with the first being the free Holiday Cheer Suit Sonic outfit, which will be available on December 21st. The addition of additional playable characters and story content is the most intriguing, however the company did not expand, so speculate as you will.

Sonic Frontiers 2023 Road Map:

• Update 1:will add Sound Mode, Photo Mode, and a new Challenge Mode.
• Update 2 will add new Kocos and an Open Zone Challenge Mode. Also, content will be added to celebrate Sonic’s birthday!
• Update 3 will add new playable characters and additional scenarios!

Sonic Frontiers Has A Rumored November Release Date On Steam DB Page

Sonic fans have been getting a drip-feed of information on the forthcoming 3D Sonic game, Sonic Frontiers, for more than a month. However, one item that has been lacking from all of the game's information is a release date. It's either "later this year" or "during the Christmas season."

That might be changing shortly. Some information has been added to the game's page on SteamDB, or the Steam database. The game will have the Denuvo DRM, an anti-piracy feature implemented by SEGA in its PC games that causes a reduction in game performance and has received a lot of criticism from fans. The page also lists an unsubstantiated November 8th release date.

SEGA Is Rebooting Crazy Taxi And Jet Set Radio

According to Bloomberg, SEGA is now in the process of resurrecting two iconic Dreamcast titles. According to the news outlet, this is all part of the company's Super Game plan. The reboots are part of the Japanese company's drive to generate recurring income sources and online communities around its software portfolio. According to the Bloomberg report, SEGA is pursuing worldwide successes such as Fortnite, so the games might be free-to-play with in-game microtransactions and will be a live service.

“The new Crazy Taxi has already been in development for over a year and the Tokyo-based entertainment group aims to release it within two to three years, the people said, asking not to be named as the information is not yet public. It was named alongside Jet Set Radio in Sega’s annual report a year ago on a list of intellectual property assets that Sega wanted to recapitalize by bringing them up to date. Both new games are in the early stages of creation and could still be canceled, the people said.”

The House Of The Dead: Remake Is Coming To Nintendo Switch In April

Forever Entertainment has revealed that The House of the Dead: Remake will be released on the Nintendo Switch on April 7. The company also mentioned that pre-orders for the game would be available on March 31. Forever Entertainment collaborated with SEGA in the same manner that Dotemu did with their critically successful Streets of Rage 4 video game. MegaPixel Studio created The House of the Dead, as well as the Panzer Dragoon Remake.

Sonic Frontiers Delayed From 2021 To Increase Quality

Sonic Frontiers, the next mainline game in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, was officially revealed at The Game Awards last month by SEGA and the Sonic Team. The game will be an ambitious open world 3D Sonic game, based on the teaser clip displayed during the event. SEGA told investors that Sonic Frontiers was supposed to be launched in 2021, but they opted to put it back to ensure that it meets all of the
expectations of fans, unlike previous recent 3D Sonic games.

SEGA informed investors that they spent a lot of time researching Sonic Frontiers to ensure that it meets fans' expectations and does credit to the long-running series. As a result, they've stated that game testing has begun "based on external evaluations," and that the SEGA team believes Sonic Frontiers is shaping up to be a very promising game, with "high hopes" for the 2022 release.

SEGA has also informed investors that, due to their faith in the final product, Sonic Frontiers would be sold at full price, unlike previous games in the series, which were granted a discount upon release. SEGA finished by stating that they are "completely focused on quality" and that they want to invest a considerable amount of money on Sonic Frontiers' development and marketing. Let's hoping the Sonic Team manages to pull it off. Later this year, Sonic Frontiers will be released.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax Is Getting A Re-Release In March 2022

SEGA and Atlus have announced Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax originally released in 2014 on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and arcade machines in Japan. The game will be releasing on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on March 17th, 2022.

SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive & Nintendo 64 Games Are Coming To Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack

Nintendo 64 games have been confirmed to be on the way for Nintendo Switch Online members. SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive games are also on the way. Special controllers for both are also planned, and they will cost $49.99 each for Nintendo Switch Online members. Both libraries will be part of a new “Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack” plan, which is launching in late October. It includes all the features of the base Nintendo Switch Online membership.

The starting lineup for the Nintendo 64 games will have 9 games, including Super Mario 64, Dr. Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Star Fox 64, Mario Kart 64, Mario Tennis and Yoshi’s Story. Upcoming games were also revealed, including The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Mario Golf, Pokemon Snap, F-Zero X, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Paper Mario and even Banjo-Kazooie.

As for the Genesis/Mega Drive library, the starting lineup is even larger. It includes Castlevania: Bloodlines, Contra Hard Corps, Golden Axe, Gunstar Heroes, Phantasy Star IV, Shining Force, Shinobi III, Streets of Rage, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Ecco the Dolphin, Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, and Ristar. New Sonic Game Coming In 2022

At the end of the Sonic 30th anniversary stream, the Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka, announced that there will a brand new Sonic game released in 2022. The company didn’t give title, but they did show some teaser footage, Mr. Iizuka says that they will have plenty of Sonic news to share throughout the year, so hopefully we won’t have to wait too long until the game is fully unveiled. 

SEGA Announces Sonic Colors Ultimate

SEGA has announced that they will be re-releasing Sonic Colors which made its debut on the Wii. The newly revised game will be titled Sonic Colors Ultimate with improved visuals. You can pre-order Sonic Colors Ultimate and it will be released on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Epic Games on September 7th. Check out the trailer below.

Atlus and Sega have announced Persona 4 Golden for PC. The standard edition of Persona 4 Golden is selling for just $19.99. You can also pick up a deluxe edition that comes with a digital artbook and digital soundtrack for $24.99. You can see the trailer for the PC version below:

SEGA Announces Game Gear Micro

In celebrating its 60th anniversary SEGA has announced that it’s releasing another retro system. This time it is the Game Gear Micro and it has only been announced for Japan at this time. It’s scheduled to be released on October 6th and is launching in black, blue, red, and yellow colors and will cost 4,980 yen. Strangely they have decided that each colored version will come with 4 different games:

Phantasy Star Online 2 Coming To PC Next Week

Phantasy Star Online 2 is coming to PC via the Microsoft store on May 27. Sega has also announced that virtual star Hatsune Miku is making a special appearance in the game with special cosmetics and items.

Mario & Sonic 2020 Coming In November, Features Classic 2D Events

SEGA has revealed that Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will feature 10 classic events in 2D giving them a nice retro feel. The game releases on Nintendo Switch system on November 5th in North America and November 8th in Europe. Check out the trailer below.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 Gets Price Cut And Complete Edition

Sega has announced that the base version of Valkyria Chronicles 4 is getting a permanent price cut to $30. Although, you can also opt to buy the new complete edition digitally, which includes the base game and all of the DLC scenarios. That includes missions that add Squad 7's members and tank (from the original Valkyria Chronicles) to your team, as well as two ridiculously powerful Valkyria you can deploy in battle. If you already own the game but not the DLC, you can get the bundle of extra content for $25. Valkyria Chronicles 4 is available on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. However, the complete edition is currently only available on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.

Phantasy Star Online 2 Coming To Xbox One In Spring 2020

During Microsoft's E3 presentation, SEGA revealed that Phantasy Star Online 2 is headed to Xbox One in spring of 2020. This will be the first time the game releases in the West, and will include all the content featured in the current PC version of the game. This means all the bosses and quests added post-release. The version also includes cross-play functionality and is free-to-play.

The SEGA Mega Drive Mini Releases Worldwide In September

SEGA‘s Mega Drive Mini has been in the works for a while now. Finally, the company announced a release date at SEGA FES 2019. It will be launching worldwide on September 19th.  There will be a standard version for 6,980 yen, or approximately $70 USD, and a two-controller version that will be 8,980 yen, or approximately $90 USD. The SEGA Mega Drive Mini will contain 40 titles, and SEGA has announced the first 10. The list of games will vary, depending on the region. Team Sonic Racing: Metal Sonic, Zavok, And Dr. Eggman Join The Team

SEGA has confirmed via the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account that a number of characters are joining Team Sonic Racing. The characters that have been announced today are as follows, Metal Sonic, Zavok, and Dr. Eggman. Team Sonic Racing launches this summer on consoles.

Team Sonic Racing Delayed To May 2019

SEGA has confirmed that TeamSonic Racing from Sumo Digital has been delayed. It will now arrive on May 21st 2019. The team ultimately wants to make sure it is a great product and this delay will allow them to fine tune everything. Here’s the statement SEGA sent to IGN.

“Team Sonic Racing is the ultimate blend of arcade and fast-paced competitive style racing, featuring your favorite characters and environments from across the Sonic Universe. To deliver the highest quality experience to fans, SEGA has decided to delay the launch of the title.

During this additional time, SEGA and Sumo Digital will continue to hone the title to enhance the player experience to ensure Team Sonic Racing delivers the best gameplay experience possible.

We understand that many fans were looking forward to a Winter release and apologize for any inconvenience caused. We’re confident that with this additional time our teams will ensure delivering an unforgettable experience that fans can enjoy for years to come. Team Sonic Racing is now set to be released on May 21, 2019.”

Space Channel 5 VR Coming To PSVR
