Battlefield 2042 Season One Delayed

Dice has acknowledged Battlefield 2042's flaws, pledging to polish the game and match fan expectations for EA's next FPS. Dice is postponing the game's first season in order to do this.

"We have heard you," Dice writes in a blog post. "So, we are heavily invested and committed to the future of Battlefield 2042 – working on taking action on multiple fronts to address feedback and implement extensive fixes to the game, key features that are important to you, and getting team play where it needs to be.

We've had to make some big decisions to ensure that our next set of updates can be focused on delivering these improvements, with the most substantial one being to move the release date of our first season to early summer. This decision gives us the time to focus on improving the Battlefield 2042 experience while finalizing the development of our seasonal content to ensure that it all reaches our standard for quality."

While this is good news for the shooter's future, it's undoubtedly a disappointment for fans who were looking forward to Season One and any more content that could come with it. Dice, on the other hand, gave a preview of what to anticipate in Season One:

"When Season One arrives in early summer, it will mark the start of a year where we'll deliver four Seasons, four new Specialists, and new locations along with more completely new content," the blog post reads. "We know that this release is later than anticipated for many of you who purchased the Year 1 Pass as part of the Gold and Ultimate Editions. To acknowledge and thank you for your patience and continued support, those players will receive an exclusive bundle containing a Specialist skin, weapon and vehicle skins, a melee weapon, and Player Card, all to be delivered in the next update."

Dice also shared a snapshot of the future updates it has planned, and they look promising:

  • Scoreboard: "In our next update, we'll be adding a refreshed in-round Scoreboard alongside further changes we've worked on since the holidays. This will be an ongoing evolution from what was shown in the work in progress we shared recently. We have heard your feedback around including two tables and separating your own team versus the enemy, and are working on incorporating that for the release. K/D scoring and End of Round reporting will also be coming in a future update."
  • All Platform Voice Communication: "The arrival of voice communication (VOIP) is just the start of the improvements we're bringing to enhance team play and communications."
  • Player Profile: "Giving you a better overview of your career on the battlefield and how far you have to go for your next unlock."

Dice claims the studio would "incorporate a clearer, tighter squad loop, a revised ping mechanism, and an enhanced reward loop for when you and your squad play the goal" to fix 2042's existing team play issues. In-game gunplay will continue to develop as a result of player input.

On the Portal side of things, Dice says it will continue to develop its tools, modes, and player experience gain. In this mode, it has also been examining Specialists, and while the studio doesn't have much to say about them just now, it will in the future, according to the blog post.

Battlefield 2042 Releasing In October, Won’t Have Campaign Or Battle Royale [UPDATE]

UPDATE - Battlefield 2042 will now release on November 19.

When Battlefield 2042 launches in October it won't have a single-player campaign. It also won't return to a battle royale mode. Instead, it's going to focus on its multiplayer campaign, which supports 128 players on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S and X, and 64 players on PS4 and Xbox One.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Battlefield 2042 designer director Daniel Berlin explained why the game is missing a single-player campaign.

"If you look at the DNA of the studio, what we've been doing for so long, we just said you know what, we're not going to have a traditional single-player campaign this time around, but we're going to put all that emphasis and all those resources into building depth into the multiplayer. Because that is what we do best."

Battlefield 2042 is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC on October 22.

Battlefield V's Battle Royale Mode, Firestorm, Has A Release Date

Battlefield V's battle royale mode, Firestorm will soon be available to play. Firestorm features 64-player that places heavy emphasis on vehicles that give players advantages on land, sea, and in air. The series' trademark destructible environments are also present, allowing players to knock down houses and drive through walls. Firestorm offers just one map, which is 10 times larger than Battlefield V's Hamada. As the name Firestorm implies, the world is on fire, and that blaze creates a constricting circle that brings opponents closer together. When you set foot in this world, you'll need to scour the terrain for weapons and gear. Firestorm arrives on March 25 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Battlefield V Take’s Us Back To WWII On October 19 [Delayed]

EA and DICE have revealed Battlefield V to the world. During the real event we learned that the game is returning to World War II. One of the the biggest unifying theme in Battlefield V is the move away from abstraction. You no longer just move into an area and get automatically healed by a magical aura. Reviving allies is also an involved, animated, and much more personal process so that both the healer and the wounded can appreciate the intimacy of their situation.

Battlefield V introduces two major new game modes.
One is called Grand Operations, which will be an epic, historically inspired, multimatch, multiplayer mode. The first mission sees the player landing as a paratrooper behind enemy lines, tasked with taking out anti-aircraft artillery points. The second day in Rotterdam is when the main invasion force has landed, and you’re trying to reclaim more sectors of the city from the occupying force. Day three moves things deeper, into the devastated, bombed-out parts of the city, and that’s where you can claim a decisive victory. Day four in Grand Operations is called the Final Stand, and it fully embraces the scarcity idea. You get one life, one primary weapon with limited ammo, and you basically fight to the death. By this point, each player will have invested more than an hour into the contest, so the sense of a high-stakes battle for glory will be proportionately amped up. Tides of War is the other new mode. This is Battlefield V’s continuous online campaign mode, which revolves around assembling your own roster of soldiers, each of them customizable to a ridiculous degree of personalization (weapons, attire, perks, abilities, and more). Both the narrative and gameplay evolve as you keep participating in more missions, and you’re incentivized to do so in order to obtain loot and rewards to pretty up your soldiers some more. Tides of War will also offer free maps updates as EA is moving away from the season pass model. The deluxe edition of the game goes on sale on October 16th for Xbox One One, PlayStation 4, and PC, while the standard edition will be available on the same platforms on October 19th.

UPDATE - Electronic Arts is delaying Battlefield V from October 19 to November 20. In a blog post, general manager of developer EA DICE, Oskar Gabrielson, says that the delay is being made due to feedback that the team has gathered so far from closed alpha sessions and from conventions like the recent Gamescom show. Gabrielson adds "adjusting the gameplay tempo, improving soldier visibility, and reducing player friction”.

Dice Reportedly Working On A Prototype Battle Royale Mode For Battlefield V

According to an anonymous source from VentureBeat, the Battlefield V might be getting a battle royale mode. The mode would feature mechanics similar to Fortnite and PlayerUnkown's Battlegrounds, where 100 players battle each other until there's only one player or team left standing. The studio is allegedly looking into how it could make such a mode work with Battlefield V's mechanics. The report also states that even if DICE is satisfied with what it has, the mode won't be ready in time for Battlefield V's launch this fall. EA could decide to release it as a free update, hold it off and include it in another project instead like a new Star Wars Battlefront or just make an entirely new game with it. Thoughts ?

The Next Battlefield Will Return To World War 2

EA is planning on taking the Battlefield series, which had its most recent entry set in World War 1, to World War 2. This will be the first time since 2009 that Battlefield has had a game take place during World War 2, according to GamesBeat
The publication has a good track record on rumors, and considering how much success EA and DICE had with Battlefield's return to historical settings, it makes a lot of sense for the series to return to World War 2. According to these sources, this new Battlefield is set release before the end of 2018.

Battlefield 1 Looks To The Past Instead Of The Future

EA has announced that the next Battlefield game is called Battlefield 1. Battlefield 1 will be set in World War I and will be available on October 21, 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. EA said Battlefield 1 will feature some of the largest and "most dynamic battles in FPS history" and will include battles on land, in the air, and in the sea. "Tanks, planes, machine guns, artillery, a lot of the tech you've used in other Battlefield games was perfected during this era. Battlefield 1 will include dogfighting in biplanes and airships with external manned guns, along with the World War I staples you'd expect like trench warfare, French tanks, mustard gas, and gas masks. Unlike other Battlefield gams, Battlefield 1 focuses more on Melee combat, with weapons including a spiked baton, trench shovel, rapier, and more.

If you want to play 3 days early, an Early Enlister Deluxe Edition will be available for all platforms on October 18 for $79.99 and will include extra vehicles, weapons and emblems including the Red Baron Pack, the Lawrence of Arabia Pack, and new visual appearances for 3 large vehicles, the Frontline Camouflage Train, the Night Raid Airship, and the Dazzle Camouflage Dreadnought.

A Collector's Edition was also announced for $219.99, you can get the following:
  • Battlefield 1 Deluxe Edition Base Game
  • Collector’s Edition Statue (14" Tall)
  • Exclusive patch
  • Exclusive Steel book
  • Exclusive cloth poster
  • Premium packaging
  • Deck of playing cards
  • Messenger pigeon tube with exclusive DLC content

If you pre-order the game, you will receive the Harlem Hellfighter Pack and 7 day early access to a free map this year. EA Access players will also be able to play for a limited time before the release date. What do you think of Battlefield 1? I think it’s really refreshing see a FPS going back to a World War instead of going in the future. This game has really caught my attending and I can’t wait to know more about the game.
