Dead Space Remake Coming In January 2023

The remake of Dead Space will be released on January 27th, 2023. The statement was made by Motive, the EA team behind the game, during the company's Crafting the Tension Art Developer Livestream. The legendary sci-fi horror survival game is being recreated from the ground up with EA's Frostbite game engine and will be released for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The original Dead Space was released in 2008 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Motive is improving its aesthetics and making its audio more crisp for a more immersive experience on modern consoles. The studio recreated all of the in-game items, tools, and landscapes for more contemporary technology and platforms, and also employed "dynamic, volumetric lighting with ambient and environmental VFX rendered in full-HDR" to capture the game's unsettling mood. You can see how they incorporated lighting changes and new elements in the video below.

Apex Legends Cross-Progression Coming In 2022

Those of you hoping for cross-progression in Apex Legends will have to wait a bit longer says development studio, Respawn Entertainment. While the game supports cross-play with other systems, cross-progression is the next natural step for the game. The news comes from Respawn’s director of comms ‘rkrigney’ who recently participated in a Reddit Ask Me Anything thread. Here’s what was said:

“Cross-progression is gnarly as hell in terms of being a problem to solve,” they explain. “It’s not only that you have to solve the technical challenge of merging existing accounts, but there are also legal and contractual issues to navigate with purchasing on other platforms. Different regions have different laws. It’s a mess.”

“Rkrigney also confirms that the team is “working on it, and we’re committed to delivering it” – although the rough release date isn’t until “next year.”

New Apex Event Adds New Arena Map And More

A new event is coming to Apex Legends that focuses on Arenas. Not only will there be a new map to play on, there will also be weekly challenges to unlock exclusive cosmetics for legends as well as firearms.

The Thrillseekers Event adds the perilous lava-pumping factory: “Overflow.” As the post on the official website says, “The floor is lava! Well, some of it, anyway.” Overflow is different from other battlefields because it prioritizes lanes. And with larger mechanical pillars, small rooms, and looming structures obstructing numerous sightlines, it can be hard to capitalize on early mistakes.

Unlockables will be distributed by way of weekly reward tracks. Week 1 is all about claiming that new legendary Rampart skin, Week 2 grants Battle Pass boosters and apex packs, and Week 3 comes with a new Bangalore cosmetic. As long as you’re playing Arenas, you’re guaranteed to build enough reward points to claim all of the collectibles. The Thrillseekers Event kicks off on July 13 and ends on August 3. The “Summer Splash Sale” ends on July 27.

Battlefield 2042 Releasing In October, Won’t Have Campaign Or Battle Royale [UPDATE]

UPDATE - Battlefield 2042 will now release on November 19.

When Battlefield 2042 launches in October it won't have a single-player campaign. It also won't return to a battle royale mode. Instead, it's going to focus on its multiplayer campaign, which supports 128 players on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S and X, and 64 players on PS4 and Xbox One.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Battlefield 2042 designer director Daniel Berlin explained why the game is missing a single-player campaign.

"If you look at the DNA of the studio, what we've been doing for so long, we just said you know what, we're not going to have a traditional single-player campaign this time around, but we're going to put all that emphasis and all those resources into building depth into the multiplayer. Because that is what we do best."

Battlefield 2042 is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC on October 22.

Japanese Apex Legends YouTube Page Claims Game Is Coming To Switch On February 2nd

Ever since Apex Legends was announced for the Nintendo Switch back in June 2020, there hasn’t been much information from EA. The game has been slated to arrive on the Nintendo Switch sometime this year, following the announcement of a delay that had been made last October.

Now the Japanese Apex Legends YouTube page said earlier today that “on February 2nd, it will be possible to play on Nintendo Switch at the same time as the start of Season 8”. This has since been deleted, and the date would likely be February 1st for western regions, but it’s also the first indicator of when the game should be finally releasing on Nintendo Switch.
