A New Skate Game Is In Development

During EA Play 2020 event, EA announced a new Skate games is being developed. There’s nothing to show at the moment as it’s “really early,” the team explains. Bring on the ridiculous physics-based wipeouts.

Anthem Releasing In February 2019, Microtransactions Are Cosmetic Only

During EA’s Play press conference, It was revealed that Anthem will not have loot boxes or be pay to win. Players can still use real money to purchase in-game items, but they are only cosmetic and don't impact the gameplay. In a statement from Game director Jon Warner to Game Informer  “We have a couple pillars that we stick to, and generosity to our players is number one on that list. Making sure you feel you got a great value for what you bought, and that you get everything you think you should get for that money. And then, as we continue to service this game and create more stuff for it, allow you the opportunity to buy cosmetic items and vanity items that you’re interested in. But no loot crates. No pay-to-win. Strictly cosmetic.”

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order Is Respawn Entertainment's Star Wars Title

During EA’s Play press conference, Respawn Entertainment's Vince Zampella announced that their upcoming Star Wars game is coming holiday season 2019. Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order allows players to play as Jedi between episodes III and IV, and features a dark setting. That’s all we know for now but hopefully we learn more soon.

Star Wars Battlefront II Getting New Content From The Clone Wars And New Modes

During EA's Play press conference, DICE announced Star Wars Battlefront II is getting new game modes this summer alongside finally receiving a major batch of prequel content in the future. One of those modes will be a new dogfight mode designed around hero ships. Another new mode will be added to the multiplayer sandbox, with players taking command posts and attacking capital ships, which may hint at land to space battles. Finally, the game is receiving four characters, with Obi Wan and Anakin making up the heroes and General Grevious and Count Dooku making up the villains. Their battles will take place on the newly added Geonosis, which is touted as the biggest Battlefront map to date. No info was given on the exact number of maps or a release date. 

Battlefield V Will Have It’s Own Spin On The Battle Royale Mode + More

During EA's Play press conference, DICE announced Battlefield V will feature its own take on the battle royale genre.

DICE didn’t share any other details about Battlefield V’s battle royale mode, other than to say that it will feature the same focus on team-play, destruction, and vehicles that the series is known for, and that it will share more later this year. The mode was added because developers at DICE have been fans of PUBG and Fortnite. In an interview with Gamespot, DICE creative director Lars Gustavsson explained his reasoning.

"I would be lying [if I said] there weren't people in the studio that would play [battle royale games] a lot," Gustavsson said with a laugh. "We enjoy it. It's good fun, and it brings a new perspective."

Gustavsson explained that the new mode wasn't added via corporate mandate or executive meddling and was because they thought battle royale was fun.  DICE also once again reiterated that Battlefield V will feature absolutely no lootboxes or premium passes, and that “everyday will bring something new” to the game. Battlefield V releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 19.

Command & Conquer Rivals Coming To iOS And Android

During EA's Play press conference, EA announced a new mobile game, Command & Conquer Rivals. The gameplay centers on destroying the opponent's base by seizing missiles and controlling a majority of tiles on the field. The game will be available on both iOS and Android, with a pre-alpha demo available for Android available right now. Check out the trailer below.

EA Announce Origin Access Premier For PC

During EA's Play press conference, CEO Andrew Wilson took to the stage to reveal Origin Access Premier. The new service will allow PC players to pay a single subscription fee and play new EA games as they release along with a library of legacy titles. The service will go live later this year, and include games like Anthem, Battlefield V, Madden NFL 19, and FIFA 19, just to name a few.
