The Callisto Protocol Releases In December

The Callisto Protocol, a survival horror game created by Glen Schofield of Dead Space fame, has a release date. On December 2nd, it will be available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC.

The clip conveys a sense of unease comparable to the Dead Space series. Schofield says his team worked hard on the lighting and other details to make The Callisto Protocol appear appropriately spooky. Players will assume the role of Jacob Lee (Josh Duhamel), an inmate at a jail on Jupiter's "dead moon" Callisto. When guards and fellow convicts begin to mutate into Biophage monsters, Jacob is forced to fight for his life. You'll be armed with the GRP, a gravity weapon designed for use by the prison's guards. According to Schofield, you will be able to freeze a charging monster or send the animals into environmental dangers.

Dead Space Remake Coming In January 2023

The remake of Dead Space will be released on January 27th, 2023. The statement was made by Motive, the EA team behind the game, during the company's Crafting the Tension Art Developer Livestream. The legendary sci-fi horror survival game is being recreated from the ground up with EA's Frostbite game engine and will be released for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The original Dead Space was released in 2008 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Motive is improving its aesthetics and making its audio more crisp for a more immersive experience on modern consoles. The studio recreated all of the in-game items, tools, and landscapes for more contemporary technology and platforms, and also employed "dynamic, volumetric lighting with ambient and environmental VFX rendered in full-HDR" to capture the game's unsettling mood. You can see how they incorporated lighting changes and new elements in the video below.

EA Shuts Down Visceral Games

EA have announced that they are shutting down Visceral Games, the studio is famously known for the Dead Space series, and where working on an upcoming unnamed Star Wars game. Visceral brought Amy Hennig, most famously known as director of Uncharted 2, on board for the studio's Star Wars game that is now being significantly retooled. As EA's executive vice president Patrick Söderlund implied in a blog post, the game seems to be moving from a self-contained single-player experience to a long-term Games as a Service model.
“In its current form, it was shaping up to be a story-based, linear adventure game. Throughout the development process, we have been testing the game concept with players, listening to the feedback about what and how they want to play, and closely tracking fundamental shifts in the marketplace. It has become clear that to deliver an experience that players will want to come back to and enjoy for a long time to come, we needed to pivot the design.”
The Star Wars title will transfer to EA Vancouver, who had already been helping to work on the game. There is no word on how EA plans to proceed with Amy Hennig yet. As part of this shift, the Star Wars game is also being delayed from 2019 to an undefined date in the future.

Well there goes my hope for a new Dead Space, I really wish we knew why EA did this. It seems very unnecessary to close such a studio, I feel for all that are effected.
