Co-op Castlevania iOS Title Announced For Japan

Looks like Konami is working a four-player co-op Castlevania title for iOS that starts a closed beta in Japan around mid-May. Gematsu has translated the game's official page, which describes a future in which Dracula has been destroyed. However, protagonist Genya Arikado has received a mysterious letter that warns that the Count will be resurrected. Characters such as Simon, Alucard, Charlotte, Shanoa, and Maria, from previous Castlevania titles are available to play. The game supports global co-op, so hopefully we’ll get a localized version. Thoughts ?

Konami has announced that Metal Gear Survive is releasing on February 20 in the US and February 22 in Europe on PS4 and Xbox One.
The game takes place shortly after Ground Zeroes, where members of Big Boss' base were sucked into a dimensional portal rather than dying in the ambush as Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain indicated. Four of the survivors find themselves in an other wordly wasteland and do their best to survive against zombie-like enemies. Konami has announced the exclusive pre-order extras for Metal Gear Survive, including weapons, a box accessory, and more.

  • 4 gold plated weapons: Bat, Sledgehammer, Survival Machete and Survival Spear
  • 4 metallic coloured survival scarves: Green, Blue, Pink and Silver

Don’t Expect Konami To Work On MGS V's Mission 51

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain released last year and was very successful, but it wasn't perfect. The ending of the game left a major unresolved plot thread that wasn’t addressed and was cut from the game. Fans have been holding out hope that the ending will be resolved and  released one day. Well sorry to say but according to Konami, that's not happening. In a recent exchange  with a fan on Twitter, the official Metal Gear account confirmed that the company has no plans to revisit or restore the cut mission. It’s not all that surprising, Konami doesn’t want anything to do with Hideo Kojima, so why would they finish a game that he worked on when they can just make there own game (Metal Gear Survive). What do you think ?

Metal Gear Survive Won’t Be Full Price Game At Retail

During an interview with Eurogamer, Konami brand manager Richard Jones mentioned that Metal Gear Survive won’t be retailing at full price. He wouldn’t go into further detail on the subject. Metal Gear Survive will be the first full Metal Gear title made since series creator Hideo Kojima parted ways with Konami last year. You can read more about Survive here. What do you think of Metal Gear Survive ?

Konami Announced Metal Gear Survive (Why ?)

Konami has announced its first Metal Gear game after Kojima’s departure, and well, it just seems kinda random. Metal Gear Survive takes after the end of Ground Zeroes, with members of the destroyed Mother Base ripped out of reality and dropped into a different one. In Metal Gear Survive, up to 4 players team up to fight off "biological threats" that honestly look like zombies. While the trailer seems very action focused, Konami assures that the game is stealth based. Metal Gear Solid Survive will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017. What do you think of Metal Gear Survive ? It looks cool, but what purpose does it serve ? I mean it doesn’t further the story, it just seems like a quick cash grab.

Hideo Kojima Was Prohibited From Attending The Game Awards

What was probably the biggest surprise of The Game Awards 2015 wasn't an award or a world premiere. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain won the award for best action/adventure game tonight. Accepting on behalf of Hideo Kojima was Big Boss voice actor Kiefer Sutherland. Why didn’t Hideo Kojima accept the award himself you may ask ? That’s because Kojima was not able to attend. Following the presentation of the award, host and producer Geoff Keighley revealed that Kojima was legally prohibited by Konami from attending.
"As you noticed Hideo Kojima is not here tonight," Keighley said. "Mr. Kojima had every intention of being here, but unfortunately he was informed by a lawyer representing Konami that he would not be allowed to travel to tonight’s award ceremony to accept any awards. He’s still under employment and contract and it’s disappointing. It’s inconceivable to me that an artist like Hideo Kojima would not be allowed to come here and celebrate with his peers and his fellow teammates."
Geoff Keighley stood up for Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima and confirmed Konami and Kojima’s relationship. What do you think of the Kojima and Konami situation ?

Konami Shuts Down Kojima Productions Los Angeles Studio

Konami has confirmed that the Los Angeles studio of Kojima Productions has been shut down. In a statement to Polygon, Konami had this to say:

“Konami has made the decision to close its Los Angeles Studio, effective immediately, due to the product development resources being restructured into a more centralized unit. This facility contributed to the recent Metal Gear Solid games. Konami will continue its operations to support all Metal Gear Solid titles, including the recently launched Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Online. Metal Gear Online is still scheduled to release for PC Steam in January 2016.” What do you think of Konami Shutting down the Los Angeles studio ?

Konami Is Gearing Up For The Next Metal Gear Solid

Following the success of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Konami is reportedly getting ready to capitalize on the success of the game with the next entry in the series. According to Kotaku, Konami is currently planning what's next for Metal Gear Solid, confirming the next entry in the series won't be a small project. "When we start development, a large-scale investment will become necessary," Konami said. If Hideo Kojima will be apart of the project is unknown, but with or with out him Konami will  move forward with the series. What do you think of this ? To me and many other Metal Gear isn’t Metal Gear without Hideo Kojima.
