Resident Evil 2, 3, And 7 Coming To PlayStation 5 And Xbox Series X/S This Year

Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, along with Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, are coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S this year, according to Capcom.

Because of the switch to more powerful hardware, these games will have additional features including ray tracing, 3D audio, and "high frame rate," according to a press release. Capcom doesn't clarify what it implies, but it's safe to believe the games will run at least at 60 frames per second, which is the current-gen standard. Dual Sense haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support are also included in the PS5 versions.

Best of all, you'll get a free upgrade to the new versions if you already own these titles on last-gen systems. The PC versions will also receive a free upgrade patch. These re-releases have no set release date, however they should arrive in 2022.

The Game Awards 2019 nominees have been revealed and it’s an interesting list to say the least. There’s a lot of Death Stranding nominations and I’ve seen a lot of people questioning the lack of Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Resident Evil 2 Remake Getting Free Ghost Survivors DLC In February

Capcom has announced some free expanded content is coming next month for Resident Evil 2. 

On February 15, players can download the Ghost Survivors mode, which includes three "what if" short stories about people who failed to make it out of Raccoon City following the outbreak. "No Time To Mourn" follows the story of gun shop owner Robert Kendo. "Runaway" follows the mayor's daughter as she tries to escape. "Forgotten Soldier" follows a soldier caught up in the outbreak.

Classic Skins For Leon And Claire Coming To Resident Evil 2 Remake, New Mode Coming Too

The release for Resident Evil 2 Remake is on the horizon. With that benign said, Capcom Japan recently held a stream in celebration and revealed some additional content is coming to the game.

Classic skins for both Leon and Claire are on the way. 
You will be able to essentially play as their models from the original 1998 PlayStation release in March. According to a report from Gematsu, the stream also revealed an upcoming free mode called The Ghost Survivors that will act as a side story featuring other characters and some randomization elements.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Premium Edition In Japan Includes Bluetooth Typewriter Keyboard For $900

Resident Evil 2 remake is getting a typewriter USB keyboard with the Japanese Premium Edition of the game, and will cost $900.

The bluetooth typewriter comes with a charging cable, reportedly has an active battery life of up to 7 days, and is compatible with Windows computers and MacOS, as well as iOS a Android devices.

The Resident Evil 2 Premium Edition is available on Capcom's Japanese website, and it also includes a statue of Leon Kennedy, four “ink ribbons”, a Raccoon Police Station poster, an official art book and soundtrack CD, a DLC voucher, a copy of the game and a chest to hold it all. The keyboard will also be sold by itself for $680.

Resident Evil 2 is coming to the PS4, Xbox One and PC on January 25, 2019.

Capcom Looking Into More Remakes After Resident Evil 2

During Capcom's most recent financial report questions were asked about Resident Evil 2, which Capcom expects to surpass a million copies, and whether the developer plans to create further remakes in the same vein. 

"Further," Capcom answered, "regarding remakes and rereleases of titles in our back catalog, we expect to explore these further with a variety of properties as a part of our strategy to utilize our library of IP."

This isn’t anything new for Capcom when it comes to leveraging its backlog. When the HD update for the Resident Evil remake performed so well earlier this generation, Capcom recommitted to reaching into its history of games for re-releases and, it seems now, remakes. Thoughts ?

Resident Evil 2 Remake Isn’t Coming To Nintendo Switch “At This Time”

Capcom brand manager Mike Lunn was asked during E3 if Resident Evil 2 Remake is coming To The Nintendo Switch. Lunn said that “no, not at this time. We just wanted to focus on PS4, Xbox One, and PC at the moment”. Could RE2 Remake be the next cloud game Capcom releases ? Thoughts ?

Resident Evil 2 Remake Will Release In January 2019

During Sony's E3 conference, Resident Evil 2 remake was finally revealed, after Capcom initially announced the game back in in 2015. The new trailer showed slightly different faces and voice actors for Leon and Claire, but otherwise was the Resident Evil game that fans remembered, at least in cutscenes. Resident Evil 2 is scheduled for release on January 25 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Original Voice Actors Being Replaced For Resident Evil 2 Remake

According to the original voice actress of Claire Redfield (Alyson Court), Capcom has chosen to use non-union actors to voice Claire Redfield, Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong for the Resident Evil 2 remake. Following a fan campaign for her return, she was contacted about reprising the role, but the company tasked with providing voiceover for the game in the US reportedly chose to take a different approach. “I would have done it," Court explained in a YouTube video, "because I know you guys wanted me to, and I really appreciate your support. I appreciate the outrage you had towards Capcom and everybody involved. But unfortunately, as far as I know they chose to go non-union with the voice performances.” Court explained that this decision was made prior to the start of the ongoing video game voice actors' strike, and that using non-union actors was unrelated to that. Leon Kennedy actor Matt Mercer and Ada Wong actress Courtenay Taylor have both tweeted that their experiences are the same as Court's, and that they will not be returning either. It's not yet clear who will be replacing the voice actors.

Resident Evil 2 Is Getting A Remake

Capcom has announced Resident Evil 2 is getting a remake. The project is in development at Capcom's with Yoshiaki Hirabayashi in charge of the project. Hirabayashi was the producer on the remake of the original Resident Evil. UPDATE 12/03/15 - Capcom UK's senior marketing director Stuart Turner has clarified on Twitter that it had been a mistranslation that the upcoming Resident Evil 2 Remake is a REMAKE and NOT a remaster.

Seems to be a few people picking up a mistranslation in our own investor report. RE2 will be a full from the ground up remake NOT a remaster
