Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition Adds New Story Content And Third-Person Mode

Capcom has confirmed that a Gold Edition with a number of major additions is on the way. The first is Shadows of Rose, a new narrative extension that puts Rose in charge of a mind-bending quest of discovery.

Rose, Ethan's daughter, is all grown up in this narrative. You can tell she's battling with her abilities from the start of the game. To try to control them, she enters the Megamycete's consciousness, and the madness starts. Time and space are distorted, and she sees someone who looks exactly like her. The entire game is played in the third person.

Capcom is incorporating that new viewpoint into the main game, allowing players to watch Ethan and play the game in a manner similar to Resident Evil 4's over-the-shoulder shooting.

Finally, the Mercenaries mode is expanding with new objectives and playable characters such as Chris Redfield, Alcina Dimitrescu, and Karl Heisenberg. Lady Dimitrescu towers over nine feet in height.

If you've previously completed Resident Evil Village, you won't need to purchase the Gold Edition and will instead need to purchase the new Winter's Expansion, which includes all three expansions. Capcom intends to make this update available on October 28 for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Coming In March 2023 And Resident Evil Village Coming To PSVR 2

Capcom's long-rumored, much-anticipated remake of Resident Evil 4 is now a reality, and it'll be available on March 24th, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC through Steam.

The game will be a remake of the beloved 2005 title, which starred Leon S. Kennedy and the president's daughter, Ashley Graham.

"We aim to make the game feel familiar to fans of the series, while also providing a fresh feeling to it," a Capcom producer said on the PlayStation Blog. "This is being done by reimagining the storyline of the game while keeping the essence of its direction, modernizing the graphics and updating the controls to a modern standard."

Capcom also promised Resident Evil 4 content designed for PlayStation VR 2, Sony's next console VR device. In addition to the old-school remakes, Capcom is working on a PSVR2 version of Resident Evil: Village, the newest Resident Evil game.

Capcom Reveals Resident Evil Village

During the PlayStation 5 reveal event, the eighth entry in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil Village, was announced. The brief trailer looks stunning as well as horrifying. As with RE7, this game will also be set in a first-person perspective and seems to involve running around a decaying old village surrounded by a frozen forest. RE7’s Ethan is still in the game and likely the main protagonist, but Chris Redfield also makes a return at the end of the trailer. Resident Evil Village will be out in 2021 on PS5, Xbox Series X and PC.
