Jane Foster's Mighty Thor Will Be The Next Playable Hero In Marvel’s Avengers

Jane Foster will be the next playable hero in Marvel's Avengers, according to Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics. She will be the first new addition since Spider-Man, the PlayStation exclusive hero launched in the aftermath of last summer's War For Wakanda expansion, which included Black Panther. When it comes to Jane Foster's Mighty Thor, Crystal Dynamics claims it will be published sometime after Update 2.5, which will be released when Update 2.4 is released next month.

“Beyond that will be Update 2.5, and while we’ll be coming back with specifics on timing later, we can share that it will introduce a new playable Hero for all platforms: Jane Foster: The Mighty Thor,” Crystal Dynamics’ blog post reads. “Our Hero designs are driven first and foremost by their core comic book identities, so, as a fellow wielder of Mjolnir, her suite of abilities will have a lot in common with Odinson’s, however she will also have elements that are distinctly Jane. More details on how Jane will come to life in our game will be coming in the future.” 

Elsewhere in the blog post, Crystal Dynamics details Update 2.4, which is currently targeting a May release. 

“Events like Cosmic Threat, Tachynon Anomaly, and Corrupted Vibranium helped build a backbone to Marvel’s Avengers’ first year, allowing us to add variety to the Avengers Initiative and giving new and different goals to chase with your squadmates,” the blog post reads. “As they’ve entered into a rotational calendar this year, we want to make sure they stay fresh and compelling for replays. So, in Update 2.4, we’ll be reworking the systems behind those events with the goal of making them more rewarding. Combined with the improved game loop introduced in 2.3, we think these new rewards will make a meaningful change of pace for veteran players, and a great way to gear up for newer players.”

Here’s what Crystal Dynamics has to say regarding Update 2.4 reworks: 

• To make each event more unique and worth playing, we’re improving and diversifying rewards across events, with each event now rewarding gear from different sets.
• Adding Unit rewards to a wider variety of event missions to provide even more ways to earn shipments and cosmetic vendor outfits.
• Adding higher power level gear rewards to meta objectives to create another path to gear-up beyond the soft-cap on drops for non-Raid/Omega-Level Threat content.
• Meta objectives will grant rewards to your entire eligible roster, not just a single hero, allowing you to gear up your squad while playing your favorite hero.

Black Panther Comes To Marvel’s Avengers In August

Crystal Dynamics showed off what’s next in the Marvel's Avengers roadmap, the introduction of Black Panther to the game. We already knew Black Panther was coming to the game, but today gave us a new look at the story and content his War for Wakanda expansion will bring. As the name suggests, this expansion adds Wakanda as an area for players to explore, and with it a new cast of characters, including a playable Black Panther. Black Panther and the War for Wakanda expansion comes to Marvel's Avengers as a free update in August.

PS5 And Xbox Series X Versions Of Marvel’s Avengers Is Delayed

 The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of Marvel's
Avengers will now release in 2021. The news comes from a blog post by Scot Amos, Crystal Dynamics' head of studio. If you already have the game and play it on the new machines, you will still experience faster load times and better framerates.

The release of new characters are also delayed. Kate Bishop, who will be the game's first DLC character. She was supposed to release this month, but now has an unknown release date. 

Amos also addressed some of the launch issues. saying "Marvel’s Avengers’ launch was not without turbulence, and we recognize that a number of issues detracted from your enjoyment of the game. This does not align with Crystal Dynamics’ value of craftsmanship, and for that we sincerely apologize." In that apology, Crystal Dynamics is giving all players 1,500 credits, 7,000 units, 250 upgrade modules, 20 DNA keys, and a Sarah Garza-inspired nameplate from October 22 to November 5.

Kate Bishop Is Marvel’s Avengers First Post-Launch Hero

Crystal Dynamics has announced that Kate Bishop will be Avengers' first post-launch playable hero. Players will experience an additional narrative that showcases new villains. 

Spider-Man Coming To Marvel’s Avengers In Early 2021, PlayStation Exclusive

In a post on PlayStation Blog, Crystal Dynamics associate art director Jeff Adams announced that Spider-Man will be coming to Avengers in early 2021. The hero will be available exclusively on PlayStation.

Adam also says this version of the web-slinger is "our own Crystal Dynamics take on Spider-Man," so don't expect any ties to Insomniac's version. 

Hawkeye Will Be The First Post Launch Hero For Marvel’s Avengers

Crystal Dynamics has revealed that Hawkeye will be available as the first post-launch hero in Marvel’s Avengers. Since Hawkeye is considered a core member of the traditional Avengers team, the in-game story isn’t just going to ignore that he was missing in the main campaign. 

“He was lost track of at the end of [the attack on A-Day],” studio head Scot Amos says. “There’s an entire story pack that comes with him that tells what he’s being doing for these last five years. What you get is a full story that you can, uniquely, play his story as a full co-op experience. Then you can go back and replay all the stuff that comes out on day one in the Warzones with Hawkeye now, as well as all the new stuff that comes with him. He also has some unique story threads that tie up a few gaps that you might have noticed in some of the campaign but also throw out some new threads for the future.”

If you’re not a Hawkeye fan, there’s no need to don’t worry. More updates are on the way, offering a variety of new opportunities to players. “I think people will be surprised,” Amos says. “We have new regions and new expansions … and we haven’t even talked about villains! ... Yeah, Hawkeye is coming. But who is Hawkeye fighting and what's happening in the story? We can't wait to tell you!"

Marvel's Avengers launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC on September 4, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions coming at a later date. 

Marvel's Avengers Coming To PS5 And Xbox Series X, Upgrade From Current To Next Gen Version For Free

Square Enix has announced that Marvel's Avengers is officially coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X when the consoles launch this holiday. Those who purchase the game for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, either physically or digitally,(physically version upgrades to physically and Digital to Digital) will be able to upgrade to the respective next-gen version free of charge.

Avengers will support cross-generation play between PlayStation and Xbox consoles (PS5 owners can play with PS4, Xbox Series X with Xbox One). Players will also be able to transfer saves between current- and next-gen consoles.

The PlayStation 5 version will offer both an enhanced graphics mode and a high framerate mode at 60 FPS with dynamic 4K resolution. Gary Snethen, CTO at developer Crystal Dynamics, noted PS5's ultra-fast SSD will make for "nearly instant" load times in Avengers. "And as Iron Man flies through content-rich levels, higher resolution textures and mesh will stream in instantly, maintaining the highest possible quality all the way to the horizon," he added. Marvel's Avengers will first be released September 4 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC.

Crystal Dynamics Reveals Avenger Pre-Order Details, Special Editions And More

Crystal Dynamics has finally revealed several editions for their Avengers game. While both the PS4 and Xbox One versions have different editions to choose from that come with several bonuses, PS4 players get a few extra things, including first access to a beta.

Pre-ordering the standard edition gives you a Marvel Legacy Nameplate, the Marvel Legacy Outfit Pack, featuring costumes from each of the heroes' early days, and online beta access. The Deluxe Edition gives you 72-hour early access to the full game, the Obsidian Nameplate Pack, and the Obsidian Outfit Pack for the heroes. The physical version of the Deluxe Edition also includes a one-month subscription to Marvel Unlimited. The Earth's Mightiest Edition includes all the perks of the other editions, plus a steelbook case, a 12-inch statue of Captain America, a Hulk bobblehead, a Mjölnir keychain, Black Widow's belt buckle, Iron Man's prototype armor blueprint, Kamala Khan's Avenger pin, and a group photo of the team.

Those who pre-order the Exclusive Digital Edition on PS4 can play the beta before Xbox One players, and receive an Avengers-themed dynamic theme for their system. PS4 players also get a special Ms. Marvel emote. You also get 1,000 credits to spend on customization items, as well as a Ms. Marvel nameplate. Avengers launches on PS4 and Xbox One on September 4.

Crystal Dynamics' Avengers title is being delayed to September 4. The game was originally set to release on May 15.

Scot Amos and Ron Rosenberg, co-heads of studio at Crystal Dynamics, released an open letter to fans explaining the decision as well as touching on the game's scope and much more.

Marvel's Response To Spider-Man (PS4) Being In Avengers + My Thoughts

Crystal Dynamics hasn’t confirmed a potential crossover between Marvel's Spider-Man and Marvel’s Avengers, but it looks like there’s a chance. 

During a stream of the E3 Coliseum, Marvel’s Bill Rosemann was asked about the possibility of Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 crossing over with Marvel’s Avengers, to which he responded “Last time we were here, a year ago, discussing that certain character, the roof caught on fire. And if I was to comment on that character now, I think the roof would fall on my head! So I will just say, right now we’re just focused on creating the best Avengers game.”

If you ask me I think Spider-Man from the PS4 game will 100% be in Marvel’s Avengers. During Square Enix’s E3 press conference they confirmed exclusive content for PS4 players, Spider-Man will be apart of that. Also I find it very convenient that there is an Avengers Tower in Spider-Mans New York. Why wouldn’t the Avengers be there ? Because they're in San Fransisco for the opening of the Avengers West facility. It just makes too much sense to me. But what do you think ? Marvel’s Avengers Will Be Assembling In May 2020

During Square Enix’s E3 presentation, we got our first real glimpse at what Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have been working on with Marvel’s Avengers. 

Marvel Avengers is an online action/adventure game with a focus on cinematic storytelling, built to be played by up to four players online at the same time. While the main characters at launch (Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, and Iron Man) should be familiar to anyone who has gone to the movies over the last decade, that this is Crystal Dynamics take on the characters and their world.

The story on Avengers Day, as the team is celebrating the opening of the west coast headquarters in San Francisco from onboard their custom helicarrier, (this is likely to play a bigger part of the story). In what appears to be a disastrous heist gone wrong, the helicarrier goes down, large destroying the city, and Captain America is thought to be dead (I don’t think he’s really dead). The story cuts to 5 years later after the now-infamous "A-Day" and disbanding of the Avengers, when the team must reassemble to face a new threat. The game also has an all stay cast of voice actors, see might even say the Avengers of voice acting.

We did get one extra character tease near the end of the presentation, with the appearance of Hank Pym (Antman). Crystal Dynamics was also quick to point out that Avengers is planned as a game that will grow over time with new regions and characters, all of which will come free to those who have the game. In addition, the team promised no loot boxes or pay-to-win purchases connected to the project. Also PS4 are getting exclusive content including beta access. Avengers is set to release on May 15, 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.

Square Enix CEO Says Deus Ex Isn’t Dead

It was reported earlier in year that Square Enix put the Deus Ex series on hiatus following the reception of Mankind Divided. Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda now says that ins’t the case.

 "We have never said anything about discontinuing that title but for some reason that's the rumor out on the market," clarified Matsuda in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz. "What I can say is Eidos Montreal has always developed Deus Ex, and the issue is we do not have limitless resources. We have several big titles that we work with and that's partly a factor in what our line-up looks like. Of course, it would be ideal if we could work on all of them all of the time, but the fact of the matter is some titles have to wait their turn. The reason there isn't a Deus Ex right now is just a product of our development line-up because there are other titles we are working on."

Along with Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal is currently spearheading the development of a new Avengers title that was teased during the announcement of the partnership between Square Enix and Marvel Studios.

The Marvel's Avengers Project Appears To Be An Online 3rd-Person Action Adventure Game

It looks like Crystal Dynamics' upcoming Avengers game will feature online play and will resemble a 3rd person cover based action adventure game. Thanks to NeoGAF user kirolak, we have a couple of job postings from Square-Enix subsidiary Crystal Dynamics for the upcoming game, which is currently called "The Avengers Project". One posting asks for applicants for a "Lead Level Designer" position, focusing on level development. The posting specifically refers to "fun and unique online experiences" and also asks for an understanding of "the social implications of shared gameplay", as well as referencing "various game modes and campaigns". The other posting on the other hand is asking for an experienced Combat Designer, who will work with the rest of the team to "plan, prototype and build combat systems that directly apply to a 3rd person cover based action adventure game." "The Avengers Project" is expected to release sometime in 2018.

Marvel Partnering With Square Enix For An Avengers Game + More

Marvel has announced a new deal with Square Enix to create triple-A games from the Marvel franchises, starting with The Avengers. Square Enix is having Crystal Dynamics (Tomb Raider) and Eidos Montreal (Deux Ex: Mankind Divided) working on on the project. The teaser doesn't reveal any gameplay, but sends the strong suggestion that Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America will be in the game. The Square Enix press release says, "The Avengers project is being designed for gamers worldwide and will be packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise. Featuring a completely original story, it will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come." The Avengers will be the first of a multi-game partnership. Square Enix says we can expect more information on the projects in 2018.
