Capcom Updates Its Best-Selling Franchise List

Capcom has revised its best-sellers list, and the Resident Evil brand, which debuted in 1996 and has remained a sales powerhouse for the Japanese business, remains at the top.
Resident Evil is by far their most successful IP, with 123 million copies sold to date. Fans of the Ace Attorney series will be thrilled to learn that it is Capcom's eighth best-selling series, having sold over 8.9 million copies since its inception in 2001. The following are the top 10 best-selling Capcom IPs.

Devil May Cry Is Coming To Nintendo Switch

Capcom is bringing the game to the Nintendo Switch. It’s being sold separately from the rest of the games and not part of the Devil May Cry HD collection that arrived on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Devil May Cry is coming this summer on Nintendo Switch. It should be noted that this will be a digital release only.

Devil May Cry V Ships Over Two Million Copies In Just Two Weeks

Looks like Devil May Cry V as achieved S-rank as the title has shipped over 2 million copies across all platforms globally. It’s great to see that Capcom is back and better. Of course, we already know the game will have its free Bloody Palace update next month, so there's at least some DMC5 to look forward to.

Bloody Palace Coming To Devil May Cry V In April

Bloody Palace is a survival mode that has been in every Devil May Cry game (minus the first one), and it is coming to Devil May Cry 5 as a free update very soon. The mode will be available on April 1. Here are some more details directly from the press release announcing the update.

“Bloody Palace is a survival mode that pits you against hordes of increasingly difficult enemies and bosses whilst racing against the ticking timer. Play as Dante, Nero or V in Bloody Palace Mode through multiple levels of enemies and truly test your SSStylish skills.”

Devil May Cry 5 Is The Second Biggest PC Launch For Capcom

Capcom is back and better than ever with Devil May Cry 5. According to the third-party stat-tracking site SteamCharts, the title is currently sitting at an all-time peak of 88,735 concurrent players as of this writing. This makes it the second-largest launch Capcom has had on Steam. For comparison, Resident Evil sits at third place with an all-time high of 74,024, while Monster Hunter: World, sits at an all-time high of 329,333 players. 

There Are No Plans For Post Launch DLC For Devil May Cry 5

It appears that Capcom won’t be releasing any post-launch DLC for Devil May Cry 5, with the exception of the free Bloody Palace update. Matt Walker, a producer on the game, announced the lack of plans in answer to a fan on Twitter. 

It's nice to know in advance that what you're buying is all you're going to need to enjoy the whole game.

Devil May Cry 5 Will Be Playable For The First Time At Gamescom

News has been quite on the Devil May Cry 5 front since E3, until now that is.

Devil May Cry series producer Hideaki Itsuno revealed on Twitter that they've finished the demo for Gamescom, showing that the title will be playable for the first time at the convention. The tweet also shows off the demo menu screen.

Devil May Cry 5 is set to release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in early 2019 and Gamescom will take place in Cologne, Germany from August 21-25.

Devil May Cry V Announced, Will Feature 3 Playable Characters

During the Xbox E3 conference, Capcom officially announced Devil May Cry 5. Producer Matt Walker and director Hideaki Itsuno appeared onstage after the trailer, promising that the game will be the true sequel to Devil May Cry 4 that fans have been waiting for since the game's launch 10 years ago. The game features 3 playable characters, but the announcement trailer focused on Nero, nephew and rival to Dante. In Devil May Cry 5, Nico, a craftswoman and new character to the series, assists Nero by supplying him with prosthetic arms equipped with various abilities. Nero also takes his iconic sword "Red Queen" and pistol "Blue Rose" into battle. Devil May Cry 5 is set to launch spring 2019 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Capcom says more details on the game will arrive at Gamescom 2018.

Devil May Cry Costumes Coming To Monster Hunter

Capcom has announced that a Dante costume is coming to Monster Hunter World. The reveal came in the form of a trailer that has the sights and sounds of Devil May Cry. The outfit itself is just Dante's clothes and a wig, so it is not a full armor set like Aloy and Ryu. It also has male and female variations. Additionally, it looks like it either also has a new weapon or acts as a skin for the Charge Blade, which seems to extend out into the Rebellion, Dante's sword. No word yet on when the event will take place. 

Devil May Cry HD Available For Free Via Twitch Prime

On February 27, PC players can get the Devil May Cry HD Collection for free via Twitch Prime. According to a Capcom blog post, players will need to login via the Twitch Desktop app to claim the free game. Capcom has not stated how long this offer will be available. Devil May Cry HD Collection, which contains Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, is set to release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on March 13. 

Devil May Cry HD Collection Gets Another Remaster

Capcom has announced that the HD collection of the first 3 Devil May Cry games for Xbox 360 and PS3 is getting re-rereleased. PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC players can pick up the Devil May Cry HD Collection on March 13 for $30. According to the post on Capcom Unity, the games will run at 60 frames per second, though the accompanying screenshots don't appear all that improved from the last-gen versions. Thoughts ?

Capcom Heroes Mode Coming As A Free Update To Dead Rising 4

Capcom has announced Capcom Heroes mode in Dead Rising 4. The new mode has Frank wearing a dozen different costumes from Capcom's many games. During the story campaign, Frank will find arcade machines that unlock the different costumes, each of which has their own unique weapon and a special move taken from the character's source material. Not all the costumes have been revealed yet, but the trailer below shows the following representatives:

• X (Mega Man X)
• Dante (Devil May Cry)
• Sissel (Ghost Trick)
• Adam the Clown (Dead Rising)
• Frank West (Dead Rising)
• Cammy (Street Fighter)

The mode comes as a free update to all existing versions of Dead Rising 4 and will be included on the disc of the PlayStation 4 version, when it releases December 5 .

Capcom Wants To Revive Some Of Its Older Franchises

Capcom has confirmed in a press release that the company is looking to revive some its forgotten franchises. The Capcom has a number of established IPs under its belt including Dino Crisis and Mega Man to name but a few. Here’s what they had to say: “In addition to regular major title releases each fiscal year, Capcom is currently focused on reviving series that have not had new entries recently, or otherwise dormant IP. Beginning with MARVEL VS. CAPCOM: INFINITE, a return for the series following a five-year hiatus, Capcom looks to enhance its corporate value even further by utilizing its library of rich contents.” Thoughts ?

Actor Puts Devil May Cry 5 On Resume

According to ShackNews, actor Nils Hognestad posted a role for Devil May Cry 5 to his resume page, though it has since been deleted. The actor stated in the post on his resume that he is playing the lead character. Whether that means Dante or someone else isn’t clear. Will we see a DMC 5 announcement at E3 ? Guess we’ll have to wait to find out. What do you think ?

Project X Zone 2 Coming Later This Year

Project X Zone 2 has recently been been announced for the 3DS and will feature characters from Bandai Namco, Sega, and Capcom. The game is set to release in Japan and North America sometime in the fall this year.  Franchises confirmed to be in the sequel include Resident Evil, Yakuza, the Tales series, Sakura Wars, Devil May Cry, Tekken, Mega Man X, Virtual Fighter, .hack, Strider, Shinobi, Soul Calibur and many more.
