iOS 16 Adds Support For Joy-Cons And The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller

Apple's iOS platform will be updated later this year to enable both the Nintendo Switch Pro controller and Joy-Con support. Sony's Dual Sense controller and Microsoft's Xbox Series X|S controllers are already bluetooth-enabled when attached to an iPhone, iPad, or Mac running iOS 15, as are the PlayStation 4's DualShock 4 controller and Microsoft's Xbox One controller. 

Fortnite Fleet Force Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Bundle Coming In June

 Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 is here, and if you’re playing on
the Nintendo Switch you can squad up and drop in with the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Fortnite Fleet Force Bundle. The Joy-Con Fortnite Fleet Force Bundle includes a uniquely designed blue Joy-Con (L) and a yellow Joy-Con (R) emblazoned with Fortnite banana imagery. Nintendo President Apologized For Joy-Con Drift

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa spoke at the recent Nintendo financial Q&A has for the first time apologized for issues some Switch users are facing with their Joy-Con controllers. Joy-Con drifting has been an issue since around the launch of the system and class-action lawsuits have started. Here’s what Mr. Furukawa has to say during the Q&A session:

“Regarding the Joy-Con, we apologize for any trouble caused to our customers,” said Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa. “We are continuing to aim to improve our products, but as the Joy-Con is the subject of a class-action lawsuit in the United States and this is still a pending issue, we would it like to refrain from responding about any specific actions.”

New Regular Nintendo Switch With Longer Battery Life Coming In The Fall, New Joy-Con Colors Announced

Nintendo has announced that it has revised the Nintendo Switch system to incorporate a larger battery for longer playtime. You’ll be able to purchase this edition towards the end of August in North America and early September in Europe. You’ll be about to tell the difference from the existing Switch system by the red box art (as you see in the image below). There will also be new Joy-Con colors which you can see in the tweet below.

This new model – still just named Nintendo Switch – will boast anywhere from 4.5 to nine hours of battery depending on the game you play. For Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you’ll get 5.5 hours play. That compares to just 2.5 to 6.5 hours of battery for the current standard Nintendo Switch model (about three hours for Zelda)

Hori Is Making A Nintendo Switch Joy-Con With A Proper D-Pad

The Joy-Cons are fantastic controllers, but they don’t feature a standard D-Pad on them. Thankfully, peripheral manufacturer Hori has solved this issue by producing a Joy-Con with a standard D-Pad. It’s a left Joy-Con and will be available July 2018 priced at ¥2,678 ($25). However, there are tradeoffs as the Joy-Con ONLY WORKS in portable play and doesn’t feature standard gyro controls and HD Rumble.

Neon Pink And Green Joy-Cons Coming to NA, Pre Order Up At GameStop

The Neon Green and Neon Pink Joy-Cons are come to both the US and Canada. They’re currently available for pre-order at GameStop and have a release date of January 15th for the US and cost $79.99. 

Nintendo Is Looking To Create Unique Experiences With HD Rumble And Joy-Cons In 2018

Nintendo has briefly shared its plans for 2018 with a Japanese newspaper and it seems that the emphasis for the new year is providing unique experiences with the technology in the Switch controllers, Joy-Cons. The company says that it plans to make new gameplay experiences which utilize the HD Rumble and motion detection cameras from the Joy-Cons. We’ll have to wait and see what they have in store for us in the coming year. I’m hoping for Game Cube style Joy-Cons.

The Neon Green/Neon Pink Joy-Cons Release On July 28 In Europe

The Nintendo UK Twitter page has announced that the Neon Green/Neon Pink Joy-Cons will be released in Europe on July 28th. There will also be the Splatoon 2 Pro Controller available.

Splatoon 2 Nintendo Switch Bundle Announced + New Joy Con Colors And Pro Controller

Nintendo has announced a Nintendo Switch bundle with Splatoon 2. Along with the bundle, the company also announced new colored Joy-Cons. Neon Green and Neon Pink and are set to be sold this Autumn and a pro controller with the same colors and art.

ARMS And Neon Yellow Joy-Cons Are Coming In June

During todays Nintendo Direct, Nintendo announced that the Nintendo Switch game ARMS is coming to North America and Europe on June 16. Also alongside the launch of Arms, new Neon Yellow colored Joy-Con and Joy-Con strap will be available.
