No Mario’s Sky Renamed Due To A Copyright Claim

Nintendo has taken down No Mario’s Sky (a mix of Super Mario and No Man’s Sky) due to a copyright claim. However that hasn’t stopped the team who were behind the game as they have cleverly  relaunched the game as DMCA’s Sky. ASMB who created the game in just 72 hours also released a statement due to the takedown notice. The game is free and is available to download, here.

No Man’s Sky Is Having Some Issues On PC

No Man’s Sky launch on PC had a few issues upon release. Steam user reviews cite frame rate problems on GPUs, including the Nvidia GTX 980. For many , the program doesn’t open and for others, it crashes after just a few minutes. Other users are reporting stuttering, audio problems, and general optimization issues. Stuttering occurs regularly, key binds do not work for flight controls, and frame rate is unreliable, even with recommended specifications. Even after updating our graphics drivers, things aren’t better. Stuttering still occurs, with frame rates dropping to as low as 10-15. The keybinding issue makes the game exceedingly hard to play with a control pad once you get off the first planet. What do you think of these issues? Good thing the game was delayed 6 months (sarcasm) The only help we have is from founder Sean Murray’s Twitter account:

European Copies Of No Man's Sky Has Online Play Icon Hidden Under Sticker

According to PCGamesN, multiple sources (including retailers in the UK) have confirmed that Limited Edition versions of No Man’s Sky in Europe come with a sticker covering the original PEGI rating and a logo denoting online play. Further posts on Reddit and Imgur confirm this as well. The Limited Edition box ships with an incorrect PEGI rating of 12, as well as logos to inform players the game contains violence and online play. The sticker covering these logos shows and accurate PEGI rating of 7. This goes back to the question of does No Man’s Sky have multiplayer or not ? What do you think ?

2 Players Found Each Other In No Man’s Sky

With the release of No Man’s Sky, many people have been asking the question if it’s a multiplayer game or not. No Man’s Sky isn’t your typically multiplayer game. You won’t be joining lobbies with a group of friends in the game. Developer Hello Games’ has said that the chance of encountering another player at the same time on one of the quintillions of planets is slim to none. Well to everyones surprise those slim to none chances aren’t that slim. 2 players (Thesadcactus and Psytokat) somehow realized they were in the same solar system. The 2 ended up communicating on PSN and made it to the exact same spot, only problem was that they couldn’t see each other. Hello Games founder Sean Murray has responded about players attempting to encounter one another in No Man's Sky. Based on the following tweets (which you can see below), it seems that Psytokat and Thesadcactus would have been able to see each other if not for all the server traffic on day one. What do you think of these 2 players finding each other in No Man’s Sky ?

Here’s What’s Including In The No Man’s Sky Patch

Update 1.03 is out now for No Man’s Sky and is 824 MB. Here’s what’s including in the patch:

  • The Three Paths – there are now new, unique “paths” you can follow throughout the game. You must start the game on a fresh save, with the patch, as early choices have significant impact on what you see later in the game, and the overall experience.
  • The Universe – we changed the rules of the universe generation algorithm. Planets have moved. Environments have changed biomes. Galaxies have altered shape. All to create greater variety earlier. Galaxies are now up to 10x larger.
  • Diversity – Creatures are now more diverse in terms of ecology and densities on planets.
  • Planets – we’ve added dead moons, low atmosphere and extreme hazardous planets. Extreme hazards include blizzards and dust storms.
  • Atmosphere – space, night time and day skies are now 4x more varied due to new atmospheric system, which refracts light more accurately to allow for more intense sunsets.
  • Planet rotation – play testing has made it obvious people are struggling to adjust to this during play so it’s effects have been reduced further…
  • Terrain generation – caves up to 128m tall are now possible. Geometric anomalies have been added. Underwater erosion now leads to more interesting sea beds.
  • Ship diversity – a wider variety of ships appear per star system, and are available to purchase. Cargo and installed technology now vary more, and ships have more unique attributes.
  • Inventory – ship inventories now store 5 times more resources per slot. Suit inventories now store 2.5 times more per slot. This encourages exploration and gives freedom from the beginning. We’re probably going to increase this even further in the next update, for people in the latter game phases, and will allow greater trading potential.
  • Trading – trading is deeper. Star systems and planets each have their own wants and needs, based off a galactic economy. Observing these is the key to successful trading. We still working on adjusting this based on how everyone plays, but all trading values have been rebalanced across the galaxy, giving a greater depth. A bunch of trade exploits were uncovered and have been removed
  • Feeding – creatures now have their own diet, based on planet and climate. Feeding them correctly will yield different results per species, such as mining for you, protecting the player, becoming pets, alerting you to rare loot or pooping valuable resources.
  • Survival – recharging hazard protection requires rare resources, making shielding shards useful again. Storms can be deadly. Hazard protection and suit upgrades have been added. Liquids are often more dangerous
  • Graphical effects – Lighting and texture resolution have been improved. Shadow quality has doubled. Temporal AA didn’t make it in time, but it’s so close
  • Balancing – several hundred upgrades have had stat changes (mainly exo-suit and ship, but also weapon), new upgrades have been added.
  • Combat – Auto Aim and weapon aim has been completely rewritten to feel more gentle in general, but stickier when you need it. Sentinels now alert each other, if they haven’t been dealt with quickly. Quad and Walker AI is now much more challenging, even I struggle with them without a powered up weapon.
  • Space Combat – advanced techniques have been introduced, like brake drifting and critical hits. Bounty missions and larger battles now occur. Pirate frequency has been increased, as well as difficulty depending on your cargo.
  • Exploits – infinite warp cell exploit and rare goods trading exploit among other removed. People using these cheats were ruining the game for themselves, but people are weird and can’t stop themselves ¯\_(ã‚·)_/¯
  • Stability – foundations for buildings on super large planets. Resolved several low repro crashes, in particular when player warped further than 256 light years in one session (was only possible due to warp cell exploit above).
  • Space Stations – interiors are now more varied, bars, trade rooms and hydroponic labs have been added
  • Networking – Ability to scan star systems other players have discovered on the Galactic Map, increasing the chance of collision. Star systems discovered by other players appear during Galactic Map flight
  • Ship scanning – scanning for points of interest from your ship is now possible. Buildings generate earlier and show up in ship scans
  • Flying over terrain – pop-in and shadow artefacts have been reduced. Generation speed has been increased two fold (planets with large bodies of water will be targeted in next update)
  • Writing – The Atlas path has been rewritten by James Swallow (writer on Deus Ex) and me.  I think it speaks to the over-arching theme of player freedom more clearly now. Early mission text has been rewritten to allow for multiple endings.

You Won’t Need PS Plus To Play No Man's Sky

It appears that No Man's Sky won’t require a PlayStation Plus subscription to play. To be fair, the chances of meeting another player in the game are slim to none. But while Sony's store page does state "online multiplayer also requires a PlayStation Plus subscription", No Man's Sky developer Hello Games has now confirmed a Plus sub isn't needed for the majority of the experience. "PS Plus won't be a requirement to play online," a Hello Games spokesperson said to Game Informer. “However you will need to connected to the internet for your discoveries to register with the universal atlas".

He also gave details on why the delay is occurring. Making this game is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life, but we are so close now, and we’re prepared to make the tough choices to get it right." No Man’s Sky Finally Has A Release Date

No Man’s Sky has finally received a release date. Hello Games’ exploration game will be released on June 21 for PS4 and PC for $60. If you’re really interesting in No Man’s Sky, you can purchase a $150 limited edition from IAm8Bit. They are limited to 10,000 units and come with a hand-painted ship replica, traveler pin, diorama display backdrop, and a mystery item to be revealed at launch.
