Pokemon Go Is Having A Red And Green Event In 2021

Niantic will be hosting a daylong event called Pokémon Go
Tour: Kanto, which celebrates the 1996 Japanese release of the Game Boy titles Pokémon Red & Green. Much like 2020's Pokémon Go Fest, you can enter this event from anywhere in the world, you just need to purchase a virtual ticket to get in. 

Niantic is selling two different tickets to the same event, as a way to mimic the original games' each having version-exclusive Pokémon. That means, if you buy the Red ticket, you'll have the chance catch Pokémon that a trainer with the Green ticket won't be able to, and vice versa. The tickets cost $11.99 each. Trainers can only purchase one ticket. You can't get both Red and Green to get all of the event Pokémon.

You won't be able to catch Mew at the event, however. When trainers begin playing, they'll be asked to complete a Special Research event that delivers an unannounced reward. When that task is complete, another Special Research mission will unlock, this one Niantic says can be "completed over a long period of time." At the end of this challenge, you'll run into shiny Mew.

Tickets to the Kanto tour are available now within the Pokémon Go app. Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto will take place on February 20, 2021.

Kanto Pokemon To Appear More Frequently + Double Candy In Pokemon GO

Pokémon from the Red, Blue, and Yellow games will appear more frequently for players to catch until April 17. Trainers can earn double the candy from any action involving those regional creatures. Additionally, Aerodactyl, Snorlax, and other stronger Pokémon from the region will be available to catch in raid battles.

Here’s The Game Hall Of Fame At The Strong Museum Of Play Inducted For 2017

Following the announcement for the finalists for the 2017 induction class in March, the World Video Game Hall of Fame at The Strong Museum of Play has announced the 4 titles to be inducted this year. This year's class includes Bungie's Halo: Combat Evolved, Nintendo's Donkey Kong, Game Freak's Pokemon Red/Green, and Capcom's Street Fighter II.

Pokemon Bank Now Supports Sun & Moon, Comes With Mew's Z-Crystal

Pokemon Bank has been been updated to support Pokemon Sun & Moon. The service lets players bring Pokemon caught in the Virtual Console versions of Red, Blue, & Yellow, as well as Pokemon from Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire and X & Y, into Sun & Moon. Using it before October 7 also awards players Mew's Z-Crystal, Mewnium. For more on the service, go here.

Looks Like Pokemon GO Has Boosted Sales For The 3DS And Other Pokemon Games

During Nintendo’s financial results briefing, the company discussed Nintnedo’s president spoke about  Pokemon GO‘s effect on the 3DS and other Pokemon games. “Over the summer, the smart device application Pokemon GO became a major hit and a social phenomenon. This has sparked increased interest in Pokemon related software. Previous entries in the Pokemon series playable on the Nintendo 3DS system were Pokemon X and Pokemon Y in 2013 and Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire in 2014. We also released the original games in this series, Pokemon Red, Pokemon Green, Pokemon Blue and Pokemon Yellow, as downloadable Virtual Console titles in February this year. These Pokemon series titles have seen an increase in sales despite having been on the market for some time already.” “This graph shows the month-on-month sales of titles in the Pokemon series in Japan, the U.S. and Europe, as mentioned earlier in the presentation. As you can see, the release of Pokemon GO in July led to a major upsurge in sales, particularly for the U.S. and European markets. We can clearly see that the release of Pokemon GO has raised interest in Pokemon and contributed to a resurgence of sales for previously released Pokemon titles.”

“Similarly, this graph shows the month-on-month sales for Nintendo 3DS family systems. You can see that there is a peak in July for hardware as well, following the release of Pokemon GO. We launched the Pokemon GO Plus accessory on September 16th to provide a more comfortable play experience for Pokemon GO. Demand far exceeded our expectations and production has not caught up, leading to product shortages. We apologize to the consumers and distributors affected by this. We are planning to expand production as needed, and will continue to produce and ship additional units.”

Pokemon Re-Releases Sold Big Worldwide

Nintendo has reported that it’s re-releases of the original Pokemon games via Virtual Console has sold over 1.5 million units worldwide. The sales numbers for Pokemon Blue, Red, Green and Yellow were shared by Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima at the company’s financial results meeting. 

Pokemon Red, Blue, And Yellow Re-Release Breaks eShop Records

Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow were released for 3DS on February 27 and to no surprise they sold extremely well. Nintendo announced today that when sales from all 3 are combined, they set a new first-week eShop sales record. Nintendo didn’t share any specific numbers,  it's an impressive feat and speaks to the appeal and love for Pokemon that fans (like myself) have for the franchise. MissingNo Glitch Is In The Virtual Console Version Of Pokemon Red & Blue

To my surprise, the Virtual Console versions of Pokemon Red and Blue has retained the MissingNo glitch. For those who don’t know, MissingNo is a bugged Pokemon that could be encountered after following a certain set of steps involving, flying, surfing. Created through programming short-sights involving name length in localized versions of the games, the unintentional Bird/Normal type Pokemon would appear as a glitched block, a ghost depending on the position of letters in the player’s name. After it was caught, the game would do all sorts of interesting things. You can see the MissingNo glitch performed in the re-released Pokemon Blue down below.

Pokemon Red, Yellow And Blue Get Pokebank Support

During todays Pokemon Direct, Nintendo announced that the Virtual Console versions of the original Pokemon games will allow Pokemon transfers. Pokemon caught or traded in Red, Yellow or Blue for the 3DS Virtual Console will be transferable to the Pokebank. During the direct Nintendo also officially announced Pokemon Sun and Moon.

Here’s Everything You Need To Know About The 20th Anniversary Of Pokemon

This year marks Pokemon's 20th anniversary, and the year is filled with festivities for fans. Back in November, Nintendo announced that the original Game Boy Pokémon games are coming to the 3DS. Red, Blue, and Yellow will be available via the eShop on February 27. Also, Nintendo will be selling a New 3DS with faceplates bearing the box art for Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue and the 20th anniversary logo. The handheld will come pre-loaded with both games, and a code for a home theme will be bundled in. The New 3DS bundle will be out on February 27. The Pokemon Company will also be holding special retail giveaways later in the year. By bringing your 3DS and a copy of Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby, or Pokémon Alpha Sapphire to a GameStop location, you'll be able to get Mew, Darkrai, Arceus, and Genesect. This year will also see the release of the fighting game Pokkén Tournament on Wii U and Pokémon Go on mobile devices. The only thing that's missing from this lineup right now is a brand new game for Wii U or 3DS. How will you celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pokemon ? 

Pokemon Red, Blue And Yellow Are Coming To 3DS

During todays Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo has announced that they will be re releasing Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow on the 3DS eShop. The games will release on February 27 in celebration of the game releasing 20 years ago to the date.
