Nintendo Considers The Virtual Console’s Successor To Be Nintendo Switch Online

In a recent interview with IGN. Reggie Fils-Aime talked about the upcoming Nintendo Switch Online service and the retro games that the service will offer. According to Reggie, it seems that Nintendo considers Nintendo Switch Online to be the successor of the Virtual Console. Here’s what Reggie said about the matter:

“The Virtual Console successor is Nintendo Switch Online, right? With the mentality that says we’re going to be offering a slate of games, and it’s a slate that’s going to increase over time. For many of these games, there’s going to be additional online capability provided in those games. That’s the vision we have for how to best bring our legacy content to Nintendo Switch.

We do [believe people will subscribe to Switch Online], and I say that because what we’ve laid out is a proposition where, yes you get the competitive play accessibility, you also get the cloud save, and you get access to the legacy content. That’s a fantastic proposition for $20 a year. We believe that it’s not going to be any type of issue for us. In fact, it’s going to enable us to continue offering a varied slate of opportunities from an online experience standpoint.”

Nintendo Says Virtual Console Is Not Coming To Switch

Nintendo has confirmed via Kotaku that the Virtual Console service won’t be coming to the Nintendo Switch. We have been accustomed to the Virtual Console service on recent consoles including the Wii and Nintendo 3DS, but it seems as though it’s not something Nintendo wishes to pursue with the Nintendo Switch. That’s not to say that Nintendo won’t bring classic games under a new name. Thoughts ?

“There are currently no plans to bring classic games together under the Virtual Console banner as has been done on other Nintendo systems,” a Nintendo spokesperson told Kotaku in an e-mail late last night.

Nintendo Knows There’s An “Appetite” For Virtual Console On Nintendo Switch

In an interview with Reggie Fils-Aime, IGN questioned the Nintendo of America President about bringing the Virtual Console service over to the Nintendo Switch. 

“We know that our fans, our players, want access to all of our digital content, we know that. What we’re working through is, ‘okay, what’s going to be the best way to make that happen, to make that available?'” Fils-Aime said. “Certainly, we recognize there’s an appetite for all of our great legacy content.”

Pokemon Gold And Silver Coming To Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console

During the Pokemon centered Direct today, the Pokemon Company announced that Pokemon Gold and Silver are coming to the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. Both games will be released on September 22 along side Pokken Tournament DX.

Virtual Console Will Not Be On The Nintendo Switch At Launch

The Nintendo Switch in a few days, but unfortunately the Virtual Console will not be on the console at launch. Nintendo has confirmed this in a press release. “We will share more information in the future”. We don’t know when in the future Nintendo will share more information, but when they do, I’ll be sure to share that information with you. 

Pokemon Snap Is Now Available On The Wii U Virtual Console

The beloved Pokemon Snap is now available on the Wii U Virtual Console in the North American. The popular cost you $9.99 and If you already owned the game on the Wii then there’s a $2 upgrade option available.

Super Mario 64 DS & 3 Street Fighter Games Are Now Available On Wii U/3DS Virtual Console

The Wii U and 3DS Virtual Console have some new games for you to play. On 3DS, Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting and Street Fighter Alpha 2 are available on the 3DS eShop for $7.99 each. It should be noted that since they're Super Nintendo games, you will only be able to play them on a “New” 3DS. As for the Wii U, you will be able to play the DS launch title, Super Mario 64 DS for $9.99. 

Pokemon Re-Releases Sold Big Worldwide

Nintendo has reported that it’s re-releases of the original Pokemon games via Virtual Console has sold over 1.5 million units worldwide. The sales numbers for Pokemon Blue, Red, Green and Yellow were shared by Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima at the company’s financial results meeting. 

Pokemon Snap Is Coming To Wii U Virtual Console In Japan

Pokemon Snap fans rejoice as the game is finally coming to the Wii U Virtual Console…..in Japan. Fans have been wanting a new Pokemon Snap for Wii U and the GamePad appears to be perfectly suited for the game. Still, we haven’t received one, so this will have to do for now. Pokemon Snap will cost ¥1,028 ($9) and will be available for purchase next week. Let’s hope it comes to the west.

Are These SNES Games Coming To Virtual Console For New 3DS ?

A NeoGAF user has investigated the data inside the SNES emulator that Nintendo is using for the New 3DS’ SNES Virtual Console. The result was a list of games that are most likely coming to the Virtual Console for Japan. Some of the games listed include Sim City, Fire Emblem, Kirby Bowl, Street Fighter II and more. Nintendo hasn’t confirmed anything on this list, so we”ll considered this a rumor for now. We’ll inform you if Nintendo announces anything on this matter. Here’s Why SNES Games Will Only Run On The New 3DS

Super Nintendo games are now playable on the New Nintendo 3DS. The bad part of some of us is that they’re only playable on the new Nintendo 3DS models. Nintendo of America has provided an explanation regarding why to Game Informer. “As previously announced, New Nintendo 3DS has an improved CPU, which enables Super NES games to run on the system with quality results,” Game Informer was told by a Nintendo representative. “The Super NES games also include Perfect-Pixel mode, which allows players to see their games in their original TV resolution and aspect resolution.” Is now a good to time pick up a New 3DS ? 

Super Nintendo Games Are Coming To The New Nintendo 3DS

During todays Nintendo Direct, Nintendo has  revealed that a number of Super Nintendo games are heading to the 3DS eShop. Games like Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past and Super Metroid will soon be available to “New” Nintendo 3DS owners and only the “New” 3DS’s (Sigh). Here's the release schedule for the Super Nintendo games that were announced today, with the first 3 titles being available today:

• March 3: Pilotwings, Super Mario World, F-Zero 
• March 24: Super Mario Kart, EarthBound, Donkey Kong Country
• April 14: The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

Super Mario Galaxy Is Coming To The Wii U

Super Mario Galaxy will be arriving on the Wii U Virtual Console tomorrow in North America. You will be able to purchase the game for $19.99. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is already available for download on the Wii U Virtual Console, so it’s nice to see you can purchase and play both on the Wii U.

The 3D platformer has been rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) for its upcoming re-release through the console’s Virtual Console. The game launched via the service in Japan last May and its fantastic sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2, has been available for purchase on Wii U since January. The re-release of Super Mario Galaxy will also join other Wii re-releases like Punch-Out andMetroid Prime Trilogy. What Wii game would you like to see come to the Wii U Virtual Console ? 

Nintendo Celebrates BTTF Day By Bring The Wild Gunman To Virtual Console

Any Back to the Future fan knows the Wild Gunman as the game Marty McFly plays in Cafe '80s  in Back to the Future Part II. In celebration of today being back to the future day, (October 21, 2015) Nintendo is putting the Wild Gunman on Virtual Console this week. The game arrives to the European Wii U Virtual Console Thursday, October 22 with a U.S. release possibly hitting around the same time. You can watch the scene from Back to the Future Part II where Marty plays the Wild Gunman below. Will you buy the Wild Gunman on virtual console ? I think its a great way to celebrate Back to the Future day and will definitely be purchasing it. Good on you Nintendo.

N64 And DS Games Coming To Wii U Virtual Console

During yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, the company revealed that the Wii U virtual console will be getting titles from the N64 and the Nintendo DS library. When playing DS games on your Wii U, you have multiple layout options. The 2 screens may be split across your TV screen and Wii U Gamepad in some cases. For Nintendo 64 titles, you can choose from 3 pre-set control schemes, and then reconfigure specific buttons. The GamePad will also support N64 games' rumble feature. Pricing for N64 games will range from $9.99 to $11.99, while DS games will cost between $6.99 and $9.99. If you've already purchased an N64 game on Wii's Virtual Console, you can transfer it to Wii U for just $2. Yoshi's Island DS and Super Mario 64 are the first games released and are available now for $10. You can watch the entire Nintendo Direct here.
