Reggie Says Don’t Pay Scalpers For SNES Classic, There Will Be Enough Stock

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has told the Financial Times that consumers shouldn’t worry about being able to get hold of a SNES Classic. Reggie says that supply won’t be an issue when the lucrative retro system launches later this month. He said Nintendo has “dramatically increased” production for SNES Classic stock.

“I would strongly urge you not to over-bid on an SNES Classic on any of the auction sites . . . You shouldn’t [have to] pay more than $79.99.

New Nintendo 3DS XL SNES System Edition Announced For Europe

Continuing the Super Nintendo theme of the year, October 13th sees the launch of the New Nintendo 3DS XL – Super Nintendo Entertainment System Edition. This retro-themed system’s outer shell pays tribute to the classic design of the Super Nintendo, while inside the Nintendo 3DS buttons are colored just like the original system’s controllers. Joining this latest addition to the Nintendo 3DS family of systems on the same day are 3 new titles in the Nintendo Selects range: SUPER MARIO 3D LAND, Luigi’s Mansion 2, and Kirby: Triple Deluxe. Each title will be available in Nintendo eShop for £15.99.

eBay Countering Scalpers By Removing SNES Mini Listings

While Amazon UK have run out of SNES Mini consoles, eBay has plenty of systems and being sold at a ridiculous high price. Just like the NES Mini, the SNES Mini is currently the target of scalpers. When asked by Eurogamer, eBay has claimed that they’re trying to tackle the problem. According to a spokesperson, the auctioning website removes listings of any item that can’t be delivered within the next 30 days. As the SNES Mini doesn’t release until September, they are slowly removing any being offered. However, this is obviously only a short term solution. Thoughts ?

“We will remove listings for pre-release items and accessories if the release date of the item is more than 30 days away”

The Super Famicom Mini Has Games That The Super NES Classic Doesn’t

Nintendo announced the Super NES Classic, and as expected Japan will have their own version in the form of the Super Famicom Mini. The system launches in Japan on October 5th and contains many of the same games that western consumers will find pre-installed on their console’s on September 29th. There’s a few notable changes which are detailed, below.

The Super NES Classic Controller Will Have A Longer Cord Than The NES Classic’s

When the NES Classic Edition released, the cord for the controller was a too short for many of us. With the announcement of Super NES Classic Edition, you’ll be happy to know that the cord for its controller is going to be a bit longer, according to Nintendo. A Nintendo representative confirmed to IGN that the Super NES Classic’s controller cord is approximately 5 feet long (which is about 2 feet longer than the cord for the NES Classic Controller).

Nintendo Plan On Shipping ‘Significantly More’ Super NES Classic Edition’s Than The NES Classic Edition

A lot of Nintendo fans missed out on the NES Classic Edition. It would seems that Nintendo has learned a few things as they will be shipping more units of the Super NES Classic Edition. A statement provided to IGN by a Nintendo representative explains that Nintendo:

“We will produce significantly more units of Super NES Classic Edition than we did of NES Classic Edition”.

It should also be noted that Nintendo will only be producing the console for a limited time and the company declined to provide specific numbers. In another statement to IGN, Nintendo stated:

“Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition is currently planned to ship from Sept. 29 until the end of calendar year 2017. At this time, we have nothing to announce regarding any possible shipments beyond this year,”.

I really hope they do release more then the NES Classic. But only time will tell. Thoughts ?

Nintendo Announces Super NES Classic Edition

The Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo’s follow-up console to the legendary Nintendo Entertainment System, launched in 1991 and introduced what many consider some of the greatest video games of all time – classics such as Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario Kart, Super Metroid and F-ZERO.

On September 29, this beloved console is coming back to stores in the form of the Super NES Classic Edition. The mini system, which contains 21 pre-installed classic games and can easily be plugged into any high-definition TV using the included HDMI cable, will be available at a suggested retail price of $79.99. Nintendo Rumored To Release A SNES Mini This Year

Sources close to Eurogamer have revealed that Nintendo is working on a Super Nintendo Mini. The device will apparently be available this Christmas and will no doubt be a hit if sales of the NES Mini are anything to go by. The SNES Mini will be another plug and play system just like the NES Mini and will feature a wide array of popular titles. Thoughts ? I really hope this is true. The NES mini was great and having a SNES mini will be even better. 

Here’s Why SNES Games Will Only Run On The New 3DS

Super Nintendo games are now playable on the New Nintendo 3DS. The bad part of some of us is that they’re only playable on the new Nintendo 3DS models. Nintendo of America has provided an explanation regarding why to Game Informer. “As previously announced, New Nintendo 3DS has an improved CPU, which enables Super NES games to run on the system with quality results,” Game Informer was told by a Nintendo representative. “The Super NES games also include Perfect-Pixel mode, which allows players to see their games in their original TV resolution and aspect resolution.” Is now a good to time pick up a New 3DS ? 

Super Nintendo Games Are Coming To The New Nintendo 3DS

During todays Nintendo Direct, Nintendo has  revealed that a number of Super Nintendo games are heading to the 3DS eShop. Games like Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past and Super Metroid will soon be available to “New” Nintendo 3DS owners and only the “New” 3DS’s (Sigh). Here's the release schedule for the Super Nintendo games that were announced today, with the first 3 titles being available today:

• March 3: Pilotwings, Super Mario World, F-Zero 
• March 24: Super Mario Kart, EarthBound, Donkey Kong Country
• April 14: The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

Is This The Consoles That Sony and Nintendo Worked On ? The SNES-CD ?

Time for a brief history lesson, following the success of the Super Nintendo, in 1998 Nintendo contracted Sony to create a CD based add on for its console and to be called SNES-CD, but the product was never released. Nintendo went on to work with Phillips on the atrocious Zelda games for the CD-I player, and Sony decided to jump into the video game market with its PlayStation console. After the Nintendo and Sony CD project was canceled, rumors surfaced that working prototypes existed, but the machine had never been seen by the public eye, until now that is. Images of the prototype  have appeared on Reddit by someone who clams to be the son of a businessman who worked for Sony. If this console is real, it’s priceless, and shows us how close Sony and Nintendo came to co-releasing a system. Hopefully we find out soon if the system is functions and what's on that cartridge. That console is apart of gaming history, if its real that is. What do you think ?
