Clubs, Tournament Features And More Are Coming To Xbox Live

During Microsoft’s E3 press conference, Microsoft announced that 3 features are coming to Xbox Live this fall. First up is Clubs on Xbox One. With Clubs, players can form communal groups to find gamers with common interests. Next is Looking For Group. Think of a want ad over Xbox Live as you are able to put out a message to find players with common goals. Last but not least is the tournament focused Arena on Xbox Live. This lets players  register, and compete in tournaments. First-party games, as well as third-party titles from publishers like EA Sports and more. These new features will be added to Xbox Live in the Fall.

Xbox Live Users Up 30%

Microsoft has reported that players using Xbox Live has increased 30% year over year, with active users now at 48 million. That inclusive of paid subscribers and those who use services for free. That number is up from 39 million last quarter. Microsoft defines active users as those that have logged in within the past month. What do you think of this “jump” in users ? It does seems rather impressive, but how many of those users are Xbox 360 users vs Xbox One users ? That is the real question that we’ll never have an answer to.

Insomniac Announces Song Of The Deep

Insomniac has announced there newest game called Song of the Deep. The game is an undersea exploration game modeled after games like Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Song of the Deep finds a girl named Merryn on a quest to find the whereabouts of her missing father. In oder to track him down, she sets out from her home in the western Irish seaside of County Clare. Song of the Deep will feature combat against undersea creatures  as well as puzzle solving. The game also puts a big focus on acquiring upgrades that will open up passages to other areas in the world. Insomniac will be be getting distribution and publishing help from GameStop. When the game releases in the spring, it will be available on PSN, Xbox Live, and Steam, while physical copies of the game will be available exclusively through GameStop. Seems like an interesting game coming from Insomniac. Not to mention that they're taking the indie approach. I'll definitely gave a game from Insomniac a try. What do you think of Song Of The Deep ?

UPDATE - 4/19/16 - Song of The Depp now has a release date of July 12, 2016 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
