Nintendo Switch Sales Reach 10 Million In Europe

The Nintendo Switch family of consoles is heading into its third holiday season in Europe with hardware sales up significantly year-on-year, and a major sales milestone under its belt. Following the recent launch of Nintendo Switch Lite alongside the flagship Nintendo Switch console, Nintendo of Europe announces that more than 10 million consoles in the Nintendo Switch family have been sold across Europe.

Across the continent as a whole, Nintendo Switch hardware sales continue to grow each year. Hardware sales in 2019 are almost 30% higher year-on-year, and more than 40% higher than this time in 2017.

“The Nintendo Switch family of consoles is being enjoyed by millions of players across Europe, and passing such a major milestone is testament to its broad appeal,” said Nintendo of Europe President, Stephan Bole. “European sales of Nintendo Switch hardware and software are growing significantly each year, and existing and new console owners have a wealth of titles to choose from, with plenty more on the way.”

The library of games playable on the Nintendo Switch family includes evergreen classics like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as well as this year’s releases including Super Mario Maker 2, and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.

Since the launch of Nintendo Switch in March 2017, European Nintendo Switch owners have bought more than 36 million Nintendo-published titles, with a total of nine Nintendo-published games exceeding the one-million sales mark in Europe:

• Super Mario Odyssey
• The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
• Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!
• Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
• Splatoon 2
• Super Mario Party
• New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
• 1-2-Switch

It’s not just Nintendo-published titles achieving high sales, with multiple titles from third-party publishers including Minecraft, Crash Bandicoot™ N.Sane Trilogy, Mario + Rabbids® Kingdom Battle, and Stardew Valley all selling more than half a million copies each across the continent.

Nintendo Switch Mega Man 11 Will Be A Digital Only Release In Europe

Capcom has revealed they have no plans for a physical edition of Mega Man 11 on the Nintendo Switch in Europe, according to The Nintendo Channel. The developer also explained to the publication that they have no announcement to make regarding the special Mega Man 11 amiibo in Europe, so that might only be for North American consumers.

PlayStation Plus Price Increasing In Europe

Sony has announced that PlayStation Plus prices are going up 25% in Europe. In an email sent to subscribers today, Sony explained that the annual subscription price is being increased from £39.99 to £49.99. 3 month plans are raising from £14.99 to £19.99 and single-month plans are increasing from £5.99 to £6.99. The higher price goes live as of August 31st, 2017. If your subscription auto-renews or you activate a card before that date, it still reflects the older price.

“New” Nintendo 3DS Production Ends In Europe

Yesterday we reported that Nintendo announced that production on the small “New” Nintendo 3DS has ceased in Japan. The current models going forward will be the “New” Nintendo 3DS XL and the “New” Nintendo 2DS XL. Nintendo Europe confirmed to GameSpot that production has also ceased in Europe for the smaller handheld.

Sony Announces Glacier White PS4 Slim

Sony has revealed a new color variant for the PS4 slim, 'Glacier White'. So far announced a 500GB model is coming to Europe and a 500GB/1TB models for Japan. No word on a North American or any other territories at this time. No official price has been announced yet. The Glacier White console will be released on January 24 in Europe and February 23 in Japan.

The Overwatch Beta Is Coming To Europe

Blizzard has announced that Europe will join North America in the closed beta for Overwatch on October 27. The beta will run for an unknown amount of time and feature 18 Heroes and 7 maps, will slowly add more players as beta goes on. You can register for the beta here. 

Sony Will Be Streaming There Paris Games Week Press Conference

Sony has announced that they will stream its Paris Games Week press conference. The event will be held on October 27 at 9:00 a.m. Pacific / 12 p.m. Eastern. The press conference will be available on Sony’s Twitch. It will be available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. Sony notes that this press conference is focused primarily on European gamers, so all announcements might not apply to North America. This is the press conference that Sony skipped Gamescom for to put some distance between announcements made at E3. What do you think they will announce ? Anything you’re hoping for ? 

PS Plus Will Cost You A Bit More If You Live In The UK Or Europe

Sony will increase how much it costs to purchase a PS Plus subscription in the UK and Europe. Normally, 1 month of PlayStation Plus costs £5.49 while 3 months will set you back £11.99. It has yet to be confirmed what the new prices will be, but Sony has promised a year subscription will remain unchanged at £39.99. What do you think of this price change ? 

Dragon Quest Heroes For PS4 Coming To North America And Europe

Square Enix announced that Dragon Quest Heroes will be released in North America and Europe. Previously, the game was confirmed only for a launch in Japan. Dragon Quest Heroes will arrive in North America exclusively for PlayStation 4 later this year. A disc based version will be available at retail, while you'll also be able to download a digital version through the PlayStation Store. Pricing was not announced.

“New” Nintendo 3DS Sells Big In Launch Week

Nintendo revealed it's sold 335,000 units of the New Nintendo 3DS during its launch week in North America and Europe. This news comes after the companies latest financial briefing, where it was revealed around 175,000 units were shifted in the US, with 160,000 being sold in Europe. When the system launched in Japan back in October, it sold 230,000 in the launch weekend. Did you buy a “New” 3DS ?

Super Smash Bros. Gets A New Release Date In Europe

Nintendo has announced that they will release Super Smash Bros. for Wii U earlier than expected in Europe. Previously the game was set to release in Europe on December 5, but Nintendo has pulled that forward a week, with the new release date set as November 28. Nintendo has also confirmed that it has moved the release date of its custom Smash Bros GameCube controller, and the Amiibo bundle to match the new Europe release date.

The Last Of Us : Game Of The Year Edition Is Coming To Europe

Sony has announced The Last of Us: Game of the Year Edition for PlayStation 3.The Last of Us: Game of the Year Edition will include the single player DLC expansion Left Behind, as well as the Abandoned Territories and Reclaimed Territories multiplayer map packs. The Last of Us Game of the Year Edition will cost €39.99 across Europe. Sony has not announced any plans to release this game of the year edition outside of Europe as of yet. The Last of Us : Game of The Year Edition comes out on PS3 November 11 for Europe. 

The Walking Dead Season 1 And 2 Delayed For New Consoles In Europe

The games was originally scheduled for release in Europe on October 24, But has recently been pushed back until October 31 for PS4 and Xbox One.

The TV Tuner For Xbox One Is Now Available In Europe

Microsoft has recently launched its digital TV Tuner for Xbox One across Europe. The Tuner receives TV signals from a coaxial cable and feeds that into the Xbox One via a USB connection, keep in mind that the console will need to be powered on in order to watch it. iPhone 6 And iPhone 6 Plus Comes To 36 New Countries

Apple is bringing the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to 36 new countries by the end of this month. By the end of this month, Apple’s newest smartphones will be available in a total of 69 countries and territories around the world. By the end of 2014, the company hopes to increase that number to 115 making this the fastest iPhone rollout since the device made its debut back in 2007.

Here’s a list of countries who can expect to see the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus this month:

• October 17: China, India and Monaco
• October 23: Israel
• October 24: Czech Republic, French West Indies, Greenland, Malta, Poland, Reunion Island and South Africa
• October 30: Bahrain and Kuwait
• October 31: Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Guam, Hungary, Iceland, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macau, Macedonia, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, South Korea, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine and Thailand

New Transparent 2DS Models Announced For Europe

Nintendo has announced Transparent Red and Transparent Blue 2DS models that are set for release in Europe on November 7. The models will be available on their own from that date, or as part of a bundle with either Pokemon Omega Ruby or Pokemon Alpha Sapphire once the remakes release on November 28. The bundles will contain the corresponding color 2DS model along with a copy of one of the games pre installed on a 4GB memory card.
