Today Nintendo and DeNA announced a partnership to bring Nintendo IP’s to mobile devices. The games that DeNA will be working on are completely new, not ports of existing titles. All of Nintendo's intellectual property is open to the mobile company to tap for its creations. Nintendo continues to hope that its mobile presence will drive interest in its dedicated video game console devices, something the company has stated as a goal for entering the smartphone and tablet space. DeNA will also be developing a membership service for Nintendo that will be accessible on PC, 3DS, and Wii U. The as yet unnamed service is targeted for launch later this year, however it was not specified if this will be a regional rollout or if the duo will attempt worldwide release. As part of this arrangement, the 2 companies are exchanging capital investments. Nintendo is set to acquire 15,081,000 shares of DeNA stock at a total value of ¥22 billion ($181.36 million). DeNA will acquire the same cash value of Nintendo stock, totaling 1,759,400 shares or 1.24 percent of outstanding shares. According to The Wall Street Journal, Nintendo’s and DeNA’s first mobile game could be revealed next week. Nintendo is due to report its earnings on Wednesday and speak to investors on Thursday. Windows 10 has now been installed onto over 75 million devices since its launch 4 weeks ago. 14 million devices had already upgraded to Windows 10 a day after its launch, and it was only a week ago that it reportedly reached 53 million, though those numbers were never confirmed. Among the 75 million devices now using Windows 10, at least 90,000 of those are unique PC or tablets. What do you think of Windows 10 ?
Samsung has revealed its new 8-inch and 9.7-inch Galaxy Tab S2 models. The tab has shrunk both of last year's models and killed the widescreen (16 x 10) aspect ratio, instead giving them an iPad like 4 x 3 format. The company said that'll help "recreate the viewing experience of browsing through traditional print media," and make it easier to read e-books and web pages. Both models have slimmed down to 5.6mm and weigh in at 0.85 pounds (9.7-inch) and 0.56 pounds (8-inch). As for whats under the hood the Tab S2 has an 8-core chip running at 1.9Ghz/1.3Ghz,. Other specs include 3GB of RAM, 32/64GB memory (expandable via MicroSD) and 5,870 mAh/4,000 mAh batteries. The Tab S2 also has a built-in fingerprint scanner like last year's model, and will run Android 5 Lollipop with Samsung's latest, toned down version of TouchWiz. The Galaxy Tab S2 will launch next month, but Samsung hasn't said how much it'll cost yet. Last year’s model cost $400 for the smaller model and $500 for the larger model.
